Historia
Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to have a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive. This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.

There was nothing to dislike. This is my second time reading this. I don’t remember if I gave a review the first time.
Thank you for your service, Marcus, and I am so, very sorry about the loss of your team. I know that time heals all wounds, but this must have been unbearable. Semper Fi.

Historia
The celebrated 2010 HBO miniseries The Pacific, winner of eight Emmy Awards, was based on two classic books about the War in the Pacific, Helmet for My Pillow and With The Old Breed. Audible Studios, in partnership with Playtone, the production company co-owned by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, and creator of the award-winning HBO series Band of Brothers, John Adams, and The Pacific, as well as the HBO movie Game Change, has created new recordings of these memoirs, narrated by the stars of the miniseries.

The finest piece of WWII literature ever written.
Revisado: 12-09-22
I've read this book no less than 10 times (so far). If you've watched "The Pacific" then you are familiar with Eugene Sledge. The manner in which wrote this book allows you to travel back in time and walk with him and Company K through his and their combat experiences on Peleliu, Okinawa, and the in-between moments on the island of Pavuvu as if you were really there yourself. The book is so well written, that it will have you cringing in terror, writhing in disgust, and swelling with pride simultaneously for the Marines involved in the fight for supremacy in the Pacific. Well done, Sledgehammer. Semper Fi brother, and Rest in Peace.

Very good book!
Revisado: 12-08-22
This book had a very familiar tone to it as if you've already read "With the Old Breed" by Eugene Sledge, which is perhaps the single greatest piece of American literature about WW II ever written. These two fine Americans had the wherewithal and courage to record for all posterity of the terrible goings on during the brutal combat they saw in the Pacific. This book, while was Sid's story and not Eugene's, was as fascinating and enthralling to read as "Old Breed" was. I highly recommend. Rest in peace gentleman and thank you for your service and your writings.

Historia
William "Wild Bill" Guarnere and Edward "Babe" Heffron were among the first paratroopers of the U.S. Army - members of an elite unit of the 101st Airborne Division called Easy Company. Arguably the bravest, most efficient, physically fit, and tight-knit group of soldiers the Army has ever produced, the unit was called upon for every high-risk operation of the war, including D-Day, Operation Market Garden in Holland, the Battle of the Bulge, and the capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden.

Historia
The Last Stand of Fox Company is a fast-paced and gripping account of heroism and self-sacrifice in the face of impossible odds. The authors have conducted dozens of firsthand interviews with the battle's survivors, and they narrate the story with the immediacy of such classic accounts of single battles as Guadalcanal Diary, Pork Chop Hill, and Black Hawk Down.
