Historia
A complete crime fiction box set! Homicide detective Thomas Prescott may be retired—but a serial killer, a high-profile murder, an ill-fated cruise, and a chilling small-town crime add more than enough excitement to his hard-earned rest. This collection includes the first four books: Unforeseen, Gray Matter, The Afrikaans, and Show Me.

Book is vile. No stars would be appropriate.
Revisado: 06-17-21
No attempt was made to tell a mystery. Everything out of the mouth of the main character is an attempt to be humorous. If you want poor humor you might find this book interesting but if you want a hard core mystery it's not here. The mystery is that publishers think this is a police procedural mystery. Waste of time and money.

Historia
Dog owners know that dogs can be trained, but the idea of training rarely crosses cat owners' minds. But as best-selling anthrozoologist John Bradshaw and cat expert Sarah Ellis show, not only can cats be trained, but they absolutely should be to ensure a happy and healthy relationship between pet and owner. Once we comprehend cats' emotions and needs, we can train them to overcome their natural fears and anxieties.

Not worth buying
Revisado: 05-25-19
Not only boring and not worth buying, but content seems like gobilty-goop. He seems to have reasons for anything about cat behavior that enters his head and makes it up as he goes along.

Historia
Carl Mørck used to be one of Denmark’s best homicide detectives. Then a hail of bullets destroyed the lives of two fellow cops, and Carl - who didn’t draw his weapon - blames himself. So a promotion is the last thing he expects. But Department Q is a department of one, and Carl’s got only a stack of cold cases for company. His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: A liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead. But she isn’t dead...yet.

Totally boring
Revisado: 03-02-19
I really don't know which is more boring - the story or the reader. It must be the combination of both.

Musical words without a story only harmonious sound.
Revisado: 09-23-18
One star is one star to many. Talking, talking, talking - the author is more in love with the sound of his words than in creating a story. The reader only has the sound of words rather than a story to tell; although her reading is as melodious as in an opera.

In 2014 he asked 175 brilliant minds to ponder: What scientific idea needs to be put aside in order to make room for new ideas to advance? The answers are as surprising as they are illuminating.

Tongue in cheek or sour grapes?
Revisado: 03-02-15
Any additional comments?
The auther sounds as though he would like to play with the big boys at CERN. He so would like to exchange his Vander Graaf generator for a Large Hadron Collider. Brockman seems to be of the opinion that "Higgs boson" should really be named "Brockman boson". If only he was a particle scientist the Noble prize would have been his.

Historia
Linguistics, the study of language, has a reputation for being complex and inaccessible. But here's a secret: There's a lot that's quirky and intriguing about how human language works-and much of it is downright fun to learn about. But with so many potential avenues of exploration, it can often seem daunting to try to understand it. Where does one even start?

Entertainment not Education.
Revisado: 08-10-14
What was most disappointing about The Great Courses’s story?
In Language A to Z John McWhorter entertains rather than educates. He gaily skips across a bed of quick-sand (language and grammar). McWhorter neither stumbles nor falls. N’ere even gets a toe wet. I don’t want to drown in a sea of grammar but would have liked to, at least, get ankle deep or even knee deep. Every time I reached for a pencil to take a note I found that McWhorter had changed direction and was forging forward on a different train of thought. McWhorter is bright, knowledgeable and witty. Perfect for a cocktail party not for a Great Course!

Historia
When truth doesn’t make sense, will lies prevail? Cathy Cramer is a former lawyer and investigative blogger who writes commentary on high-profile homicides. When she finds a threatening note warning her that she’s about to experience the same kind of judgment and speculation that she dishes out in her blog, Cathy writes it off as mischief...until her brother’s wife is murdered and all the “facts” point to him. The killer has staged the crime to make the truth too far-fetched to believe.

Religion Add-on
Revisado: 06-05-14
What disappointed you about Truth-Stained Lies?
The mystery is quite nice BUT once the mystery is solved Christian theology is added. There is no reason to add Christian theology to this story. It does not add to the story nor is it necessary to understand the conclusion. For me to read "let's pray" as part of the story is completely OK but to make the request to pray to a Christian G-d excludes me and all the readers who have faith but are not Christians.

Far beyond Good
Revisado: 05-01-14
Where does The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
There was really nothing about this book that attracted me except the sale price. So - I bought it, put it aside for later, and started to listen to it when my internet cable was down (out of shear boredom ). What a wonderful surprise! I found everything about this book, the story, the main protagonist, the reader, and the pace and sound of the language to be beyond my wildest expectation. Please get this book. Just sit back and listen and just say ahhhhh.

Historia
Is it possible that there exists an ancient mystery that holds the secret of America's future? That this mystery lies behind everything from 9/11 to the collapse of the global economy? That ancient harbingers of judgment are now manifesting in America? That God is sending America a prophetic message of what is yet to come? Before its end as a nation, there appeared in ancient Israel nine specific warnings and omens of national destruction - these same Nine Harbingers are now manifesting in America with profound ramifications.

Totally A Waste of Time
Revisado: 05-26-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I had expected an interesting story in line with Dan Brown's quasi historic pot boilers. Alas, this book is total hog-wash -- Blaming America for 9/11 --
Drawing parallels between the fall of the first Temple in Jerusalem and the fall of WTC is beyond contempt. One would have to be a rather dim bulb to see these happenings as G-d's punishment for the deeds of the victims rather than the actions of evil men.
