Historia
Eugene Onegin is the master work of the poet whom Russians regard as the fountainhead of their literature. Set in 1820s imperial Russia, Pushkin's novel in verse follows the emotions and destiny of three men - Onegin the bored fop, Lensky the minor elegiast, and a stylized Pushkin himself - and the fates and affections of three women - Tatyana the provincial beauty, her sister Olga, and Pushkin's mercurial Muse.

Historia
One of the greatest horror stories ever written, Frankenstein comes to spellbinding life once again in this tour-de-force performance by the acclaimed director and star of Henry V, Dead Again, and Much Ado About Nothing. The definitive recording of one of the most haunting tales of all time, Kenneth Branagh's performance of Frankenstein is a true audio classic.

Actually, a really good read
Revisado: 05-11-24
I'd heard so much about Frankenstein in general society that I just kind of assumed that this novel would be boring and cliche, or that I had already thought of the arguments and tensions of the story. I was wrong, quite happily so! This book is quick and engaging and well worth the read. Kenneth Branagh does a wonderful job with his narration. I very much enjoyed this Audible book

Wonderful! But abridged
Revisado: 11-26-23
An excellent translation and a wonderful performance from Seamus Heaney but I was disappointed to find out about halfway through that this isn't abridged version of the story! if it was full length, I would have given it five stars all round.

Exceptional, intense, and thought-provoking
Revisado: 03-03-23
Dostoevsky delivers again- another masterpiece from the Russian master.
"The Idiot" is complex and profound. The characters, conversations, and happenings are intriguing from first to last.
A gentle nudge, though, that if you are new to Dostoevsky, you'd be better served starting with "Brothers Karamazov" or (my personal favorite) "Crime and Punishment," at those two books are both a tad more accessible and, thematically, more redemptive.
Still, "The Idiot" is well worth a read and this narration was very well done.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

A predecessor to such monumental works such as Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov, Notes From Underground represents a turning point in Dostoyevsky's writing towards the more political side.
In this work, we follow the unnamed narrator of the story, who, disillusioned by the oppression and corruption of the society in which he lives, withdraws from that society into the underground.

Very Thought Provoking
Revisado: 10-04-17
I must confess, I adore Dostoevsky's novels, and this does not have the same feel or excitement as they do. If you want to touch upon only ONE Dostoevsky book, I'd suggest you choose "Crime and Punishment" or "The Brothers Karamasov" instead. They may be longer, but I actually found them to be much quicker and more fascinating reads. That said, THIS is still a remarkably well written and intriguing book, and well worth your time. It is not pleasant, but that is part of the point. It challenges us, and hopefully helps us to grow in the process.
