Historia
Shuggie’s mother Agnes walks a wayward path: She is Shuggie’s guiding light but a burden for him and his siblings. She dreams of a house with its own front door while she flicks through the pages of the Freemans catalogue, ordering a little happiness on credit, anything to brighten up her grey life. Married to a philandering taxi-driver husband, Agnes keeps her pride by looking good - her beehive, make-up, and pearly-white false teeth offer a glamourous image of a Glaswegian Elizabeth Taylor.

Depressing book but wonderfully written

I have to agree with one of the other reviews. I felt so sad for the boy and if you try to tell someone about the storyline, they’ll ask you why you’re listening to the book! I loved the performance, however, and thankful I stuck with it.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

With about five hours left, I was ready for the book to be over. Great performance but I just didn’t find the characters that interesting. I couldn’t stand the hateful and bickering personality of one of the main characters. For me, this wasn’t time well spent.

An Informative “Listen”
Revisado: 06-29-18
This book is not best in an audible format. For me, it tended to drone on about the MB personality types. It would have been better to learn about personality and job satisfaction visually. Nevertheless, general concepts can be applied to one’s workforce and personal development goals. The book was still interesting and enjoyable.

Fascinating information
Revisado: 02-13-18
While I felt the reader was far too monotone in her delivery, the subject matter was fascinating and insightful. The author provided extensive research and covered a multitude of topics. I really enjoyed the book and gained a greater understanding between the connection of food and life. A great read!

Historia
In Evicted, Princeton sociologist and MacArthur “Genius” Matthew Desmond follows eight families in Milwaukee as they each struggle to keep a roof over their heads. Hailed as “wrenching and revelatory” (The Nation), “vivid and unsettling” (New York Review of Books), Evicted transforms our understanding of poverty and economic exploitation while providing fresh ideas for solving one of twenty-first-century America’s most devastating problems. Its unforgettable scenes of hope and loss remind us of the centrality of home, without which nothing else is possible.

Most important, how should you, as a thoughtful person, find your way among the moral puzzles of the modern world and its cacophony of voices and opinions? These are just some of the engaging and perplexing questions you'll tackle as you join Professor Kane for this thought-provoking, 24-lecture examination of the problems surrounding ethics in the modern world.
