Outstanding!
Revisado: 03-22-24
My father was the same age as Bud. They followed similar paths. However, instead of deploying, dad stayed as a P-39 instructor in Thomasville, GA until the end of the war. He deployed to Nuremberg right after VE Day in May of 45, for 6 weeks, flying P-51's in reconnaissance missions against the Soviets. He went on to become C.O. of one of the Ohio ANG squadrons at Wright-Patterson from 1946 to 1951. He had the squadron with both P-51D & H models. Afterwards he flew for TWA from 1951 - 1982. We lost him in 2009.
This book brought back so many memories of his stories. Including one where 2 test pilots (Yeager & Hoover) "borrowed" 2 of his Mustangs for a night of barnstorming! Ha Ha Ha. I heard an interview with them reminiscening about it.
Bud, the story of Chuck & You doing your demonstration & victory roll in Glamorous Glen & Old Crow brought tears to my eyes.
You have had an amazing life.
God Bless You

Historia
After fourteen years apart, forty veterans of brutal close-quarters combat, lost souls to a man, were brought back together when one of them, the author, received the Medal of Honor. Their impromptu reunion in June 2019 helped heal them all—and saved more than a few of them too. This is their story.

In World War II, Olds quickly became a top fighter pilot and squadron commander by the age of 22—a double ace with twelve aerial victories. But it was in Vietnam where the man became a legend.

Outstanding Memoirs
Revisado: 08-07-22
My father was a WWII Fighter Pilot begrudgingly tasked as a P39 instructor. He flew P-51's out of Germany in June of 1945, then with the Ohio ANG until he began a 31 year career with TWA! He was 2 months older than Robin Olds.
While their lives & storie are different. The time they lived & flew in was the same. Listening to this memoir reminds me of listening to my fathers flying tales.
God Bless these men of The Greatest Generation!

Historia
When the F-14 Tomcat of the only female flier in Punk's training class rolls wildly during a hop, nearly causing a midair collision, Punk has trouble believing her claim that a malfunction in the cockpit was responsible. When a similar accident claims the life of one of his fellow trainers, Punk suspects a cover-up involving the use of faulty parts. But no sooner does he bring on the heat with his allegations that a far more important crisis calls Punk's squadron into active duty. This time, it is not a training drill...it's America's next war.

Historia
In a narrative that moves from Washington's headquarters on the Hudson River, to the wooded hillside in North Carolina where Nathanael Greene fought Lord Cornwallis to a vicious draw, to Lafayette's brilliant series of maneuvers across Tidewater Virginia, author Nathaniel Philbrick details the epic and suspenseful year through to its triumphant conclusion. A riveting and wide-ranging story, full of dramatic, unexpected turns, In the Hurricane's Eye reveals that the fate of the American Revolution depended, in the end, on Washington and the sea.

Historia
Tim Kennedy has a problem; he only feels alive right before he’s about to die. Kennedy, a Green Beret, decorated Army sniper, and UFC headliner, has tackled a bull with his bare hands, jumped out of airplanes, dove to the depths of the ocean, and traveled the world hunting poachers, human traffickers, and the Taliban. But he’s also the same man who got kicked out of the police department, fire department, and as an EMT, before getting two women pregnant four days apart, and finally, been beaten up by his Special Forces colleagues.

I look forward to the 6th book.
