Historia
When the eleven- and twelve-year-olds on the Cannon Street YMCA All-Star team registered for a baseball tournament in Charleston, South Carolina, in June 1955, it put the team and the forces of integration on a collision course with segregation, bigotry, and the southern way of life. When all the White teams withdrew in protest, the Cannon Street team won the state tournament.

Not So Much….Baseball
Revisado: 04-10-23
I was really expecting a story about the actual Canon Street All Stars but had to put this book down after 4-5 hours of rehashing all the injustices in the South since the Civil War. While undoubtedly true, my expectation in purchasing the book was to hear about the actual Little League team. I grew up around the site of the LLWS and attended many games as a kid and I was hoping to get some nostalgia back but unfortunately it turned into story after story of injustices and nothing about baseball. Maybe it would get there but it got too tiresome for me. The narrators voice was perfect, just wished there was more discussion about the teams impact on helping the nation recover from the deep wounds of racial injustice and slavery.
