Attention Keeping!

I've read a slew of Kindle Unlimited and Self-Published novels recently. The last one about did me in. It was so poorly written, and clearly without an editor. I decided I get back my reading spark. I needed to go with a tried-and-true author. Gah. I forgot how well Roberts writes. Great story-telling, effortless prose, and the narration was great. I was so hooked that I took my phone into the shower to keep listening at a tense moment. Cue me: "nope, nope, nope, nope." as I rushed to finish in the bathroom and get back into my living room during one particularly thrilling scene in a bathroom. I'm so glad I came back to Nora. I'm looking forward to The Mirror!

I lost interest

I wanted to like this, but the weeping and gnashing of teeth got old really fast.

I wanted to love this. Even after reading the other reviews I thought it was for me. Sex forward time travel? Yes, please. But alas, I couldn't finish. I wasn't invested at all after heroine traveled. No buy-in. Voice actors were good.

Finally a book to end my 2022 dry spell

The Other Windsor girl managed to keep my attention the whole way through, which is saying something when you consider the mess that is *gestures wildly* the world. I've read a few books this year so far, and I've struggled through them. Not so with this book. The narration is strong, and I felt real-life emotions listening to the saga. Bravo.

the performance was a struggle for me

the lack of inflection by the narrator actually caused me to lose track of the story. the book is told through different characters in different time periods. I missed several changes in the plot because I missed the announcement that we were moving on to a different character/era.

the story itself is decent. probably would have been better read rather than listened to.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Kept my attention. Nice narration. That ending tho, *slow blink*

I thought I had accidentally left the book playing and started it at the end... nope. It was the end.

I squirmed

The story was pretty decent, but there were a handful of scenes that made me so uncomfortable. I know why they were there, but it was still hard to not want to throw my phone in the toilet out of frustration. I ended up listening at 1.25× b/c the narration was very slow.

The story kept my attention the whole way through. The description of the bolshevik revolution was very interesting. Just fascinating. The narration was superb. Didn't take me out of the story at all, which can be a problem on occasion. Perfect tone.
