Historia
An astonishing new science called neuroplasticity is overthrowing the centuries-old notion that the human brain is immutable. Psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, Norman Doidge, MD, traveled the country to meet both the brilliant scientists championing neuroplasticity and the people whose lives they've transformed - people whose mental limitations or brain damage were seen as unalterable.

Fascinating and highly relevant
Revisado: 03-19-22
Even though as a doctor I am basically familiar with the ideas presented here I found the case descriptions riveting, and was not aware of the extent of the discoveries and applications described. The beauty of this book is the possibilities it raises as well as examples of treatments that may be further checked followed up by anyone interested. I highly recommend this book for those interested in the brain generally as well as anyone seeking information on possible treatments for brain related problems. I did find the reader’s style a bit strange because there were no pauses at all between sentences.

Historia
Rasselas and his companions escape the pleasures of the "happy valley" in order to make their "choice of life". By witnessing the misfortunes and miseries of others they come to understand the nature of happiness and value it more highly. Their travels and enquiries raise important practical and philosophical questions concerning many aspects of the human condition, including the business of a poet, the stability of reason, the immortality of the soul, and how to find contentment.

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of The Future of the Mind by Michio Kaku, the international best-selling author of Physics of the Impossible. Read by the actor Feodor Chin. Recording memories, mind reading, videotaping our dreams, mind control, avatars, and telekinesis - no longer are these feats of the mind solely the province of overheated science fiction. As Michio Kaku reveals, not only are they possible, but with the latest advances in brain science and recent astonishing breakthroughs in technology, they already exist.

Great story, abysmal narration
Revisado: 03-28-15
The content was extremely thought provoking however the narration was absolutely terrible and made listening most unpleasant. A great injustice to the author and I strongly suggest an alternative reader.
