Historia
Often compared to both Ruth Rendell and P.D. James, Deborah Crombie is internationally acclaimed for her deftly written mysteries that combine suspense, with lyrical prose. Sharply etched characters further enrich this story of tangled relationships and dark secrets. Twelve years after their divorce, Scotland Yard Superintendent Duncan Kincaid receives a phone call from his ex-wife Victoria asking for his help.

Miss Michael Deehy
Revisado: 01-14-22
This narrator is awful for this story. I miss Michael Deehy. He IS Kincaid in this series for me. I don’t know if I can read the rest of the books if Jenny Sterlin is reading them.

Historia
Amy Jo Burns grew up in Mercury, Pennsylvania, an industrial town humbled by the steel collapse of the 1980s. Instead of the construction booms and twelve-hour shifts her parents’ generation had known, the Mercury Amy Jo knew was marred by empty houses, old strip mines, and vacant lots. The year Burns turned ten, this sleepy town suddenly woke up. Howard Lotte, its beloved piano teacher, was accused of sexually assaulting his female students.

Great book, haughty voice
Revisado: 01-26-20
I love this story and all the words but the reader’s voice has taken the tone and made it haughty. I read the book when it first came out and loved it, but this time around the VOICE killed it for me—haughty, condescending, arrogant—not the tone that I believe the author intended. Can we get a version with the author reading?? singing the presidents and states song as intended? Using actual PITTSBURGH accent rather than the unknowing blend of New York and bland impression of what the reader THINKS is an accent from Appalachia?
