I get it, Mick & Keith are bad people and Brian was a genius. Repeated agaian, again and then again. Narrator is excellent but I did not bother to finish it.

Outstanding survey of Classical Mythology. A number of myths are told and analyzed. The context and function of myths are explaind. One of the best of Great Courses I have listened too, and almost all of them are good.

John Fowles’s The Magus was a literary landmark of the 1960s. Nicholas Urfe goes to a Greek island to teach at a private school and becomes enmeshed in curious happenings at the home of a mysterious Greek recluse, Maurice Conchis. Are these events, involving attractive young English sisters, just psychological games, or an elaborate joke, or more? Reality shifts as the story unfolds. The Magus reflected the issues of the 1960s perfectly, and it continues to create tension and concern today.

One of the best novels that I really think I hate.

One of my favorite novels

I love this novel. It can be read as a detective story, but it is far, far more profound. It is rich and can easily be listened to again and again. It works on so many levels. Please be advised that John Fowles actually wrote two versions of this novel, the original and then, about ten years later, a revised version. The audio version is the original version, which in a way is a pity since the revised version is the one the author really preferred. There is no thematic difference but some scenes was added. Still, it is a gem and strongly recommended. There is also a short dramatized version available on Audible. It is a great listen, but since it is so short it can't compare in depth.
Nicholas Boulton does a wonderful job. The narration is flawless.

It is a long listen, to be sure, but a most enjoyable one. The book is well written, with a wonderful mix of history, anecdotes, and political analysis. The narration is really good, with a narrator who does not try to imitate but somehow still captures the feeling of WC himself when quoting the speeches. The author is clearly pro-Churchill. When he addresses matters when Churchill was in the wrong, he also tries to explain why Churchill did or said what he did. Perhaps I would have appreciated a slightly more critical analysis. That being said, it is but a small matter, this is a truly enjoyable book and well worth the time. Strongly recommended!

I have listened to quite a few Great Courses by now and in general found them to be vey good. This course stands out even among the other courses. It offers just what the title says, a global perspective. Ancient civilisations are described and compared and the similarities and differences are highlighted. I will now start to listen to the courses on Rome by the same author.

I really enjoyed this book, one of the best audio books I have listened to. It had the feeling of sitting in the company of someone who knows how to tell a story and tells it well. Anecdotes (quite a few of those) and lots of facts about Keef himself and the Stones. If you are remotely interested in rock music, the seventies or just want a good listen, this is the book for you. Don't miss it!

Too much into details

Somehow I have found that I particularly enjoy listening to biographies. Up to now I have listened to books about Einstein, Steve Jobs, Robert Oppenheimer and Ivar Kruger. I really expected a lot from this biography and I wanted to like it and enjoy it. But it skipped over the years up to Lincoln's run for the senate and then went into a very detailed account of a series of debates and analyzed the speeches almost word for word. I am sorry to say that I gave up after having listened to the first half of the second part (there are four parts to this audiobook) so I did not even finish half the the entire book. I am not really sure whether I ought to write a review on a book I haven't finished, but I reckoned it is OK because I have a strong view on it.
