Historia
Two weeks ago, Hector Park cheated death by uploading his mind to the ultra-immersive fantasy RPG game, Archemi. After exposing the rotten heart of an order of dragon knights, he’s now on the run with a young queen dragon who could one day become the most powerful mount in the game. To get strong enough to face their enemies, they need a quest - a big one. Fortunately, trouble has a way of finding Hector, and it does - in the form of a series of brutally murdered priests, a king in desperate need of a hero, and a beautiful, fiery berserker.

Lame

struggle to finish. All characters were annoying and childish. So little personality and poor humor.
Frankly, it feels like it was written by someone with little life experience. A lot of awkward moments and odd choices.

A bit meh.
Revisado: 06-27-22
A lot of people have issues with politics. I get that, but it's the character. it's meant to convince you, it's meant to give character development and it helps to point out how much Jason is a hypocrite and unstable. You know like a normal person who got warped to multidimensional wars and stuff would actually be.
Anti-american? Umm, what? Yeah, an American kills some people and American forces strong arm other nations. It's called geopolitics. Jason on many occasions says it's not Americans are worse, they are just better at being power bullies. If you have issue with this, then maybe you really do not like America or you are deeply uninformed about foreign affairs.
A lot of tell not show going on here. Often it's the same message. "Jason is so strong... Jason is scary... Jason is such a good guy... Jason kills a lot but dislikes it..." I can forgive a bit of the exposition, but this went to the point of being way too much. Maybe it's setup for something in the end, if so too obvious.
Low on the fantaxlsy and action. I know it's hard to try to be wowed with new fantasy each installment, but it could have been done better. Often the focus is on characters and not the strange world they are in. Out of balance.
Bad ending.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Good Story, Good Narration, Meh Production.
Revisado: 12-08-21
It is a normal fantasy story with a good narrator. the issue is more with production and direction. dialing is filled with "he said". The narrator does different voices, so it really limits immersion when the narrator tells us exactly who is talking and anfter he uses a different voice.
There were some awkward moments when time would skip or a scene would change, and no pause would be given. Again, it breaks immersion. But, you get used to it. Not a bad experience overall.

Bad. Cheesy. Boring.
Revisado: 04-28-21
Game Mechanics are seriously boring. The game story is null. If you are listening to a story about a video game, you would expect those bits to be a focus. But, you could change this from a video game to any other fantasy world, and it would not change the book at all.
It seems like it the game setting is a vehicle for a couple of themes. This is fine. But, these other themes are so bad.
Do you want to read about how everyone is rude and impatient other than our MC? Every NPC interaction is: "wow you're so much more pleasant than everyone else".
Do you want a MC who is has obvious clinical anger issues? It gets put into the story in odd ways and makes me pretty uncomfortable. It is used to show him as a strong willed character with an unyielding personality. It actually translates to someone who takes themselves way too seriously and is likely to cause a scene at Walmart.
Women. Straight up stereotypical neckbeard, fedora wearing, socially inept, female interactions. I guess it makes sense since our MC has been in prison for 5 years... However, I end up cringing everytime he quotes Shakespeare and speaks in Middle English to charm a women. **Gags** The number of inappropriate jokes that a teenage boy would make gets tiring.
This is bad. It is a bad story. It is a bad video game world. The MC is a cringe factory. It does not even do the sleazy power fantasy aspects well.

As any current or former 20-something knows, adult life can get a bit weird because no one tells you what to expect. Many of us spend a decade or more figuring out how the world works, hoping that by age 30 our friends are too old to remember what happened. Unfortunately, Andy Boyle does not have it all figured out. But the funny and useful advice and observations in this engaging audiobook will help any newly minted adult get through the hard parts.

Author: don't say mean things things to people, if you have to justify what you said by saying "just telling it how it is", you are an a-hole.
1 minute later.
Author: everyone works hard except rich, straight, white males.
I am not rich or white, but that statement is made by someone out of touch, and it is pretty darn hypocritical. I won't be taking advice from someone who doesn't even follow their own.
