Historia
War and Peace is at once an epic war chronicle and an exploration of everything that make us all human: love and hate, ambition and despair, life and death. Allow yourself to get lost in the lives of three Russian aristocratic families, whose triumphs and challenges are every bit as resonant to today’s listener as they were to original readers. Thandiwe Newton inhabits each character with such flair that it is easy to forget that you are listening to one voice.

The performance was magnificent
Revisado: 11-25-24
When the character’s cried the narrator cried, when they sang she sang, and when they laughed she laughed. The acting was amazing and it made you feel for the characters all the more!

Ultimate Guide to German Front of WWII
Revisado: 07-08-24
The best book for all you need to know about the German front of WWII, specifically the political elements, though still making the occasional points of the personal impact of the events of that era. 10/10 recommend.

The Best Self Help Book
Revisado: 04-12-24
This is by far the best and most helpful self help book I’ve ever read (and I read an average 20 books a year so that’s saying something)! I have used this book to go from drinking 5+ drinks a night (during the day too) to only having a glass of wine with my dinner!

The principles of the French Revolution remain the only possible basis for a just society - even if, after more than 200 years, they are more contested than ever before. In A New World Begins, Jeremy D. Popkin offers a riveting account of the revolution that puts the listener in the thick of the debates and the violence that led to the overthrow of the monarchy and the establishment of a new society.

The only critique I have of those books is is that the author rushed to get to the end it seemed once Napoleon was crowned emperor.

Don’t let the reviews fools you
Revisado: 01-17-24
This is an excellent book! At first I was hesitant cuz it only had two reviews and was rated 3/5 but whoever gave this a poor scoring is off their rocker. I’m a huge history buff and read many a terrible historical nonfiction books as well as great ones. This book will definitely be going down as one of my favorites.
The author/narrator did a good job with only a few slip ups but mostly so minor you barely notice.

Historia
In the first-ever history of the world's female buccaneers, Pirate Women: the Princesses, Prostitutes, and Privateers Who Ruled the Seven Seas tells the story of women, both real and legendary, who through the ages sailed alongside - and sometimes in command of - their male counterparts. These women came from all walks of life but had one thing in common: a desire for freedom.

Satisfactory
Revisado: 01-08-24
It’s a good book. A lot of other reviews are down marking it due to some of its historical inaccuracy but that fact is it’s nature and Duncombe differentiates exactly what is fact and fiction and (unknown which one). The only thing I didn’t like was the clear 4th wave feminist biased she exhibits throughout the novel but especially her conspiracy theories about the patriarchy in film in the last chapter.

Historia
Most Americans dismiss George III as a buffoon - a heartless and terrible monarch with few, if any, redeeming qualities. The best-known modern interpretation of him is Jonathan Groff's preening, spitting, and pompous take in Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway masterpiece. But this deeply unflattering characterization is rooted in the prejudiced and brilliantly persuasive opinions of 18th-century revolutionaries. After combing through hundreds of thousands of pages of never-before-published correspondence, award-winning historian Andrew Roberts has uncovered the truth.

Best Narration!
Revisado: 01-03-24
By far the best narrator I’ve encounter on my 4 years on audible. Not only did he do the accents when quoting various different people, but he actually sang a verse or two of God Save The King when that was quoted!
Apart from that the story puts a very interesting perspective of the English side of the Revolution, especially to one growing up in the US as I have. Now I’m left dealing with existential thoughts caused by the realization I’ve been lied to by the American educational system my whole life.

From the archives of the American Film Institute comes a unique picture of what it was like to work in Hollywood from its beginnings to its present day. Gleaned from nearly three thousand interviews, involving four hundred voices from the industry, Hollywood: The Oral History, lets a listener “listen in” on candid remarks from the biggest names in front of the camera—Bette Davis, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Harold Lloyd—to the biggest behind it—Frank Capra, Steven Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, Jordan Peele, as well as the lesser known individuals that shaped what was heard and seen on screen.

It was a great book just harder to follow since there weren’t really well-marked transitions between one topic to another. Other than that I absolutely loved it!!
