Historia
This forest isn't charted on any map. Every car breaks down at its treeline. Mina's is no different. Left stranded, she is forced into the dark woodland only to find a woman shouting, urging Mina to run to a concrete bunker. As the door slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams. Mina finds herself in a room with a wall of glass, and an electric light that activates at nightfall, when the watchers come above ground. These creatures emerge to observe their captive humans and terrible things happen to anyone who doesn't reach the bunker in time.

contained thriller with a fun premise

I love the entire concept around this book and it's definitely worth a listen, I just wish it were a little darker.

HIDE! (from this title)
Revisado: 11-03-23
it wasn't bad but it wasn't very good. Decent plot set up, but poor execution. Thankfully, it was short 🤷🏼♀️.

so gd entertaining
Revisado: 04-21-23
not much of a horror novel type of person usually, but this one plays out more like a gritty, action, post-apocalyptic, survival, war drama. it is incredibly tense, brutal, and captivating. it strays far enough from what you'd expect from an Aliens franchise installment to feel fresh and separate, but then it ties in, so beautifully and effortlessly weaving together both horror, political drama, and survival. I loved the characters, the pacing, the world building-EVERYTHING. Best book I've listened to all year.

Great follow up to Dark Life (imo superior). Not the best book I've ever read, but very entertaining, well paced, and well-voiced.

Historia
No visitors. No nights spent away from the apartment. No disturbing the other residents, all of whom are rich or famous or both. These are the only rules for Jules Larsen’s new job as an apartment sitter at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan's most high-profile and mysterious buildings. As she gets to know the residents and staff of the Bartholomew, Jules finds herself drawn to fellow apartment sitter Ingrid. When Ingrid confides that the Bartholomew is not what it seems, Jules brushes it off as a harmless ghost story...until the next day, when Ingrid disappears.

entertaining enough but not amazing
Revisado: 10-07-22
The book falls to a lot of the same pitfalls as a lot of YA novels; sophomoric themes, writing, and dialogue. Lock All Doors popped up on a list of good thrillers but I kind of feel like it was a sponsored ad. The book isn't bad, it's just basic. very predictable and the writing is really elementary. There's a small twist at the end I surprisingly didn't call, but I don't think the build up was thrilling wnough. Not bad.

good premise, tired teen love triangle
Revisado: 10-17-21
great premise, but won't be continuing the series. I'm too old for some YA themes and half the book was like what a man thinks is a 14 year old girl's wet dream.
