Eleven storeys high, a sixth of a mile long and a list of passengers collectively worth 250 million dollars…On 10th April 1912 the ‘unsinkable’ Titanic left Southampton on her maiden voyage to New York. At 11.40pm on the 14th April, the Titanic collided with an iceberg and was lost. 1,500 people died in the freezing sea. Legends and stories grew and even now the whole affair still sends shivers down the spine.

A really enjoyable read
Revisado: 06-08-12
I really enjoyed this book - it was in insightful look at the events that lead up to and followed on from the sinking. By using the stories of different crew and passengers you were able to get a sense of the night.
Overall a good book.

Churchill: A Life follows Winston Churchill from his earliest days to his moments of triumph. Here, the drama and excitement of his story are ever-present. Martin Gilbert gives us a vivid portrait, using Churchill's most personal letters and the recollections of his contemporaries, both friends and enemies, to go behind the scenes of some of the stormiest and most fascinating political events of our time.

The second installment of a really enjoyable work
Revisado: 06-08-12
Like the first book in this series part 2 was a really enjoyable and enlightening book. Once again it was probably a little slanted towards Churchill and showed very few of his faults.
It also covered everything after the end of WW2 quite quickly, despite Churchill being opposition leader for some time and then Prime Minister again.
Overall a really good listen
