Great songwriting podcast
Revisado: 02-21-24
Simon and Brian have been doing this show for over 10 years, it's amazing! The shows are usually about an hour, and have snippets of the songs they are referencing mixed into the show, which is great to be able to hear what an artist is talking about right when they mention something.
The diversity of guests is also great, and I have found a lot of music from this show. As an amateur musician/songwriter myself, sometimes I find things to try, but it's also just nice to get some behind the music and backstory on artists we love.
Keep it up! Glad to be the first to review on Audible! I had been always downloading the MP3 from the website, but recently switched to getting it through here.

Historia
In Still Just a Geek, Wil revisits his 2004 collection of blog posts, Just a Geek, filled with insightful and often laugh-out-loud annotated comments, additional later writings, and all new material written for this publication. The result is an incredibly raw and honest memoir, in which Wil opens up about his life, about falling in love, about coming to grips with his past work, choices, and family, and finding fulfillment in the new phases of his career.

Slim it down
Revisado: 09-25-22
I like Wil, his stuff on Tabletop, his reading of Ready Player One, etc.
I wish he had editted his original book down and read that, instead of commenting about it. The original book is a collection of posts to his website, and therefore jumps around a lot, and covers the same ground in different stories, it would have been nice if these could have been connected, so we don't hear over again the same parts of his story, and then commentary again on it. I kept feeling like my audio player was repeating chapters.
Still some good stuff in there, but it feels like 5 hrs of stuff repeated five times.

Historia
In They Just Seem a Little Weird, veteran entertainment journalist Doug Brod offers an eye- and ear-opening look at a crucial moment in music history, when rock became fun again and a gig became a show. This is the story of friends and frenemies who rose, fell, and soared once more, often sharing stages, studios, producers, engineers, managers, agents, roadies, and fans-and who are still collaborating more than 40 years on.

Enjoyable listen
Revisado: 04-25-22
Had me pulling up songs and artists I hadn't heard of to get glimpses of all the other bands connected to my favorites that are talked about in here, Kiss and Cheap Trick.
This book has the most re-takes mid sentence that I have heard in a title on Audible, for example "When we got there.... got there we went on stage". Editor should have cleaned up these in the editing process.

Historia
Disillusioned with corporate London life and with no previous experience as a long-distance cyclist, Anna decides to clamber atop a beautiful pink bicycle (named Boudica) and set out on an 11,000-mile journey on her own, through each and every state of the USA. Dodging floods, blizzards and electrical storms, she pedals side by side with mustangs of the Wild West, through towering redwood forests, past the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains and on to the volcanos of Hawaii.

What a great adventure listen!
Revisado: 07-29-20
This was my first introduction to Anna McNuff. What an inspiration to get out there and do stuff! Going from an office job she didn't care for to pedaling all 50 states. I hope she gets to do more adventures in the US and spend more time in the states she barely got to see.
It's nice when she got to read her own book, and you can feel her excitement about the wild adventure.
Highly recommended.

Historia
Anna was never anything like those "real" runners on telly, but when she read about New Zealand’s 3,000-kilometer-long Te Araroa Trail, she began to wonder...perhaps being a "real" runner was overrated. Maybe she could just run it anyway? The Pants of Perspective is a witty, colorful, and at times painfully raw account of a journey to the edge of what a woman believes herself to be capable of. It is a coming-of-age story that will lead you on a roller-coaster ride through fear, vulnerability, courage, and failure.

What a great listen!
Revisado: 07-29-20
I hadn't heard of Anna before listening to her other book on pedaling through all 50 states, which was great! Then I wanted to hear more, and was happy to see she had another book on Audible.
She's very enthusiastic and I love a good adventure read with all it's pitfalls and pleasures. Plus when the adventures happen in a country that I don't know as much about, like New Zealand, all the better.
Highly recommended.
