Historia
In 1962 the Cuban Missile Crisis brought the United States and the Soviet Union to the brink of the nuclear war. The crisis was averted, but what would have happened if war had broken out? In Resurrection Day, award-winning author Brendan DuBois brings this horrific concept to life.

Good, but limited, terrible performance
Revisado: 01-02-21
The story is fairly good, although the author’s grasp of basic history was tenuous at a few points.
The performance was terrible, however. The narrator’s English accent was so bad it took me out of the story every time it came up. It was so bad in fact, that this is the first review of an audiobook I’ve ever written. I wrote it mostly to complain about the accent.

Historia
Sarat Chestnut, born in Louisiana, is only six when the Second American Civil War breaks out in 2074. But even she knows that oil is outlawed, that Louisiana is half underwater, that unmanned drones fill the sky. And when her father is killed and her family is forced into Camp Patience for displaced persons, she quickly begins to be shaped by her particular time and place until, finally, through the influence of a mysterious functionary, she is turned into a deadly instrument of war.

Compelling but flawed.
Revisado: 07-08-17
In many ways it was a very interesting story, and both a good and examination of what could happen here, and what has already happened in other places. I found the treatment of race to be flawed, however. To think there could be another Civil War in this country where race is not a major factor is a fantasy.

Historia
For a series set in our future, Star Trek revisits the past constantly. Kirk and Spock battle Nazis, Roman gladiators, and witness the Great Depression. When they're not doubling back on their own earlier timelines, the crew uses the holodeck to spend time in the American Old West or Victorian England. Alien races have their own complex and fascinating histories, too. The Star Trek universe is a sci-fi imagining of a future world that is rooted in our own human history. Gene Roddenberry created a television show with a new world and new rules in order to comment on social and political issues of the 1960s.

The book was good, not the narrater
Revisado: 07-08-15
She mis-pronounced so many words I was distracted. Many were Star Trek words but others were simple standard things. It was embarrassing.
