Interesting series on fictional character heroes including Crusoe, Baggins, Uncle Tom and others. The most interesting one to me was Winston Smith who on first blush is hard to see as a heroic character but to fight the good fight and stand up in the face of certain defeat is certainly chivalrous.

An enjoyable collection of poems but I preferred the Poets Corner collection by Lithgow with its mini summary of each poet and poem to give context.

Justice denied

The author builds the case that the mass incarceration of people is no mistake as the system has been made as the next evolution of the old Jim Crow laws in the south. She focuses on a broken war on drugs that have lead to a normalcy in the poor communities of everyone having a criminal back ground and how that background becomes a scarlet letter keeping them out of society and severely limiting their life choices.

Poetic love shared

An eclectic collection of poets make up this book. I enjoyed the guest readers who did a great job of giving life to the readings. Lithgow's love for poetry comes through as he gives his personal history of reading poetry and then proceeds to give a brief review of each poet. It is certainly a collection I will listen to from time to time.

animal lovers safari

Full off danger and intrigue and a huge dose of heart as Anthony and his workers strive to save the Elephants and other animals. The tragic story of the baby elephant with the deformed legs was heart wrenching. A great read for any animal lover

Pluto's fall from grace

An interesting read on how educated people can get wrapped up in nostalgia and labeling things. The exposure over the Pluto declassification as a plant certainly stocked the discussion on scientific topics.

Very much Health Care focused

This was very much directed at leadership in the Health Care industry but there was good information here about encouraging the heart to the point that i completed listening to it. I guess I should have read the summary or reviews rather than relying on the cover.

A Walk of Life

AWOL tells the story of a budding through hiker who take a break from the cube life of Suburbia to take on a through hike of the Appalachian trail. It is full of stories of physical pain and endurance as he battles though with a purest mentality to walk every step of the trail. The characters AWOL meets along the trail, the battle against himself as well as the elements, and the communing with nature stories make for a very interesting read.

Investing advise form yesteryear

Very dated. This is a collection of interviews from top traders from around 1990. I couldn't help but keep wondering how many of them got wiped out by the great recession. Certainly conflicting advice here with some pushing for technical analysis and others not, some pushing for holding for the long term and others flipping trades constantly.
