Historia
It’s a question everyone asks themselves, but few have to face in real life. English teacher Richard Boyle certainly never thought he would find himself talking down a former student intent on harming others, but when Mark LeDrew shows up at Richard’s school with a bomb strapped to his chest, Richard immediately jumps into action. Thanks to some quick thinking, he averts a major tragedy and is hailed as a hero, but not all the attention focused on him is positive.

Not being able to figure out who the killer was!
Revisado: 09-11-24
It is very timely for me to read this as America and my town has just experienced another school shooting. This book reminds us all about the complex nature of what motivates a mass killing. The things that we the public, don't get to know or ever hear about has always had me curious.

What a story!!!!
Revisado: 06-06-23
This was such a great story. I was hooked from the beginning to the very end!
The reader did a great job of voicing the characters. The author was wonderful with all the nuances of a person who lives on the spectrum.
I don't want to say much about the story itself because I do not want to give anything away, but let's say, this story will stay with me for a bit.

I will be getting the next book!
Revisado: 01-27-23
it took me a bit to get into this story, maybe 3 or 4 chapters, but after that, I couldn't stop listening. Gray Widow's walk was all the things I love about science fiction books.
First, for me, the fact that there was not much technical jargon spoken, it never lost my interest. Second, there are stories within the story that lead you back to the "why" everything is happening. It just sort of unfolds for you.
I loved the main character and how she chose to deal with all that life had thrown at her!
I can not wait to get into the next book of this trilogy. I think a lot of people who like to read hero stories or comic like comic book characters will find this very entertaining.

Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

I love it!!!!
Revisado: 01-25-23
Wow! I just finished, wiped my eyes, took a deep breath, and knew this book needed a review. But not just a review, a thank you to Fredrik Backman for such an awesome, relatable story!
This book was everything I wanted. Of course, with the movie being out, there has been a lot of press out there about this story. I wanted to read it before I went to see the movie.
We all know someone who is considered "unusual" by most standards of what is "usual." I love quirky people as much as they hate to be noticed. Ove is one quirky guy, and I love how the people around him accept this, almost without question.
He ends up with such a rag-tag group of friends that he can not even recognize as friends, but as people who are too dumb to take care of themselves! The story lends itself to feel like his wife had everything to do with messing up his own plans for his own life. That's just this reader's takeaway.
The reader, J. K. Simmons was perfect for this novel. His tone, his cadence, it all made you see things from Ove's point of view, even though the story is not in the first person.
I think anyone who loves to laugh at life and cry just a little will really enjoy this tale. I like a lot of fantasy myself, but I really love to come across stories of everyday life, if told by the correct person. Mr Backman, you are certainly that person. I will be looking forward to more from you in the future.

Loved this story!!!
Revisado: 11-27-22
This story, for me, was perfect! The narration was flawless. The life story of this family and how they came together, told going from far past to mid past to final present was laid out expertly.
The five bothers and who they were in childhood and as they grew was like a blossom opening, seeing how individual each one of them were. It is so good to see so many perspectives of a childhood, adolescence then adulthood, each coming from the same household and with shared tramas but each brother, so different in their choices in life and showing who they were thru it all. Of course, Clay, being sort of the main character, became someone that I really wanted to understand the most.
I cannot exactly say everything I loved about this story but I cried and cried during the last 1/4 of the book. I was fully invested with these fellas. I felt the ending was perfect!
I would recommend this story to folks who love a great family story of trials and tribulations and growing up. This is very rich and complex and satisfying when done!

Historia
In an age of wizards and walled cities, Raffalon is a journeyman member of the ancient and honorable guild of Purloiners and Purveyors—in other words, a thief. His skills allow him to scale walls, tickle locks, defeat magical wards. He lifts treasures and trinkets, and spends the proceeds on ale and sausages in taverns where a wise thief sits with his back to the wall. But somehow things often go the way they shouldn’t, and then Raffalon has to rely upon his wits and a well-calibrated sense of daring.

Old English Charm
Revisado: 11-10-22
This read took me away from some of my normal magical tales although there was magic within the stories. When I first started this book, I felt like I was reading a Charles Dickens novel. It definately has an "old English tale" feel to it.
At first I found all the old world names hard to remember and had a tough time keeping the wizards and theif characters straight but with each chapter (which are each one of the 9 tales) I got deeper into the stories. By the very last tale, I was sad it was over. Raffalon is kind of hard to care about but by the end, I was rooting for him.
I think anyone who liked The Tale of Two Cities or stories like that would really find this book entertaining.
The narrator really set the feeling, with his voice and tamber of speech, of old England with its muddy streets filled with small orphans, beggers and theives. I could picture the scenes quite well.
The book cover fits that same sort of feeling although it does not really beg reading upon the first glance.
All in all I enjoyed this book and would be happy to read another Tale of Raffalon.

Interesting relationships!
Revisado: 09-05-22
I found this story to be quite thought provoking. What would I do in this situation?
I really liked the diverse group of characters on board the boat. The relationship that grew between Cleo and Ellen was very intriguing because I just kept waiting to see how these ladies would handle their secrets and yet they kept on moving towards each other.
The ending was perfect for this girl! I wouldn't have wanted it to go any other way.
Sally Hepworth, you tell a great tale! Thanks!

Heartwarming
Revisado: 06-06-22
I am so glad I listened to this book. it is so rich in character development and dialog that I was pulled right in from the beginning.
The narration was spot on. Ben Owukwe has a deep voice that added so much to the different characters personalities but he had a way of softening his voice to speak the women's lines.
I believe this is a great novel for any generation as we all get lonely sometimes. There were a lot of wise words and feelings expressed that any of us can relate to and take away from this book. Just a great, all around story!

A New Kind Of Wolf
Revisado: 05-29-22
I have to say, this is a new kind of werewolf tale. Sure, there's a moon and a guy that becomes a wolf when it's full but that's where this story goes on it's own path.
I am new to this author and though I started this series with book 4, I didn't feel lost. The book is told in first person by the main character, Michael Andrews, who is a famous author and the werewolf in the story. I love that he admits to being a beta male and as uncomfortable as I found some of his worries and especially his cryi ng jags, they made his admission to being beta more defined.
His relationships with the 2 women in his life were well written and I especially liked many of the humorous moments thru out this tale.
The story and narration of this book, I would give a stron g rating of 4 star. The reason I needed to rate overall a 3 was the 3 areas of the book where I felt Leslie went off topic and flat in explaining things that were not necessary and did not advance the plot in anyway.
That said, I feel that Mark Leslie did a great job of taking a fictitious story and addressing the real world problems of the hate and prejudice that have been growing in America today, showing the time bomb that is brewing and the importance of keeping vigilant to in these unsettling times.
I believe this book would appeal to readers of paranormal, action and romance novels.
