Historia
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

Repetitive and boring
Revisado: 04-06-24
Too much about Joes kids, too much irrelevant “feelings”. Too many arguements trying to convince Skippy to admit the obvious. Too much about irrelevant things in general like details about cooking biscuits. No humour.

Historia
The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.

Old stuff, Partial Story
Revisado: 02-02-23
Boring, same old stuff, and only half a story. It’s a setup for the next book. Same as the last several books.
I kept hoping the Elders would just come back and wipe out all life in the galaxy so this series could at least end in an honorable way.

Boring, Pointless
Revisado: 07-12-22
The presenter does a terrible job with womens voiced. Absolutely horrible.
The story adds nothing to the overall Galaxy’s Edge story. In fact Tyrus is far too open and emotional.

Getting Boring
Revisado: 06-14-22
First, stop the love affair with the Rangers, way too much Ranger rah rah. Sometimes there is so much Ranger specific minutia its as if the author is just trying to let readers know how much inside Ranger stuff he knows.
Most of this story is just one long fight scene. After the first few hours (audible version) of shooting its boring.

It’s suppose to be entertainment, stop preaching
Revisado: 06-06-22
I listen to this for entertainment. It’s an escape from reality. I do not want to hear about Obama, or Russian hacking, or how certain words are “insensitive”, or why there aren’t more women in the army Rangers. Shut the F up on the preaching wokeness.

The problem with lying about having a super weapon is that the bad guys might believe they have nothing to lose by doing something stupid that both sides will regret. Or, they might just call your bluff. Either way, the Merry Band of Pirates need a plan to deal with the Fallout.

Physics fail & woke fail
Revisado: 12-19-21
First the physics fail. At one point they are flying a small ship in atmosphere and get disoriented so they dangle a strap to see where gravity pulls. Wrong. The strap reflects total force = gravity + thrust + aerodynamics + wind/shock wave. In free fall the strap would just flop around.
Woke fail. At one point Perkins tells Adams that although all women experience discrimination from men, Bishop doesn’t discriminate. WTF? The entire series has women doing everything men do, sometimes better than men, no hint of discrimination. Suddenly discrimination is a huge problem? Wholeness comes to Ex Force. Fail.

Too much romance, too predictable
Revisado: 06-08-21
There is way too much romance, the boyfriend-girlfriend crap is all over the story. Even in the middle of combat the characters think about their other. In public, private, combat, non-combatant, it’s always there. Unrealistic and annoying.
It highlights why mixed gender combat units have problems, although in this story the real world problems are ignored. Of course. Must stay in woke fantasy land.
Even worse is the predictability. Time after time the main characters - and even minor characters- get in an impossible situation and always come through victorious and unharmed. Over and over and over. It becomes utterly ridiculous.
Returning this for a refund.

Romance novel? Action novel?
Revisado: 01-01-21
The first half was a romance novel and it sucks. I would give this part negative stars.
The second half is more along the lines of the usual Skippy/Bishop story but not as good. Way too much blah blah blah about feelings and PC crap and how the military mind works (which is cliche).
The book was more of a setup for the next book in the series than a complete story.
I think this series has run its course.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Too much irrelevance, distractions,
Revisado: 10-02-20
I listened to the Audible version.
The main purpose of this book seems to be to setup a bunch of story lines for future books. I'm guessing a whole series of "Bob Universe" books will be showing up, each following its own story line. Maybe even like Galaxys Edge where new authors jump in.
There were too many irrelevant chapters, such as the chapters describing Dungeons and Dragons adventures. Irrelevant to the story. Maybe Dennis Taylor has discovered D&D and he is now a D&D fanatic and its corrupting his story.
There were also long discussions on the moral status of replicants/Bobs - do they have a soul, the basis of morality, religion. These were sophomoric and showed a shallow understanding of basic religious concepts (such as the Golden Rule).
One main storyline (civil war) was not resolved in anything close to a satisfactory manner. Its clearly a teaser for future books. The same for the Heavens River society and AI, very unsatisfactory ending and clearly a teaser for future books.
The writing is good, the narrator is very good, the story has its good moments but is not nearly as good as any of the first 3 books. I will probably read the next book but if it continues Heavens River distractions then it will be my last Bob book.

Good Story, Lacks Some Reality
Revisado: 09-25-20
The story is good, the writing is very good, the narrator is very good. The author lacks some knowledge of military operations and military people, firearms, and how high level people (civilian and military) think and operate and that keeps knocking me out of the story. There is a whole lot of what English teachers (when they used to actually teach literature, writing, and language) used to call "character development" and at times I hit the "skip forward 30 sec" button.
The story was entertaining and exciting at times, but I'm not going to listen to the rest of the series.
