Historia
Growing up as a fat girl, Virgie Tovar believed that her body was something to be fixed. But after two decades of dieting and constant guilt, she was over it and gave herself the freedom to trust her own body again. Ever since, she’s been helping others to do the same. Tovar is hungry for a world where bodies are valued equally, food is free from moral judgment, and you can jiggle through life with respect.

this woman takes a lot of flack from people (mostly men) for her outspoken and unapologetic views. I started following her insta because I wanted to know why these views are SO controversial, so wrong. I ended up finding I agree with so much of what she says. listening to her story made me see the similarities in my own. I even remembered back fondly to when I gave a boy a swirly for calling me a fat cow at the public pool. I marched right into the boys room after him and gave him what he clearly deserved ( in my head anyway) and asked myself, why did I not let that boy take my self worth from me then, yet let the media and such take it from me now. I remember my mother who was a bisexual feminist that told me my body was beautiful natural and never let me "diet" who told me I need to properly nourish my body. I have to say this book makes me think about why people want to be thin even at the cost of health, and how I have been the same way to the point of starving myself as a teen. even now at 34 I want to shrink my body.

Historia
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

intriguing and frightening
Revisado: 08-02-19
powerfull imagery, well written script and graphic descriptions, not for the sake of being graphic but for the sake of the story. An insightful look into humanity and frightening concept, for how easily it could be true. As I listened I felt as if I were witnessing events folding out in front of me, it was almost as if I too lived in this harsh grey world. It was easy to lose myself in the narrative and feel for the characters. The ending threw me off, I wasn't expecting it. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't what I got. wow.

Historia
Whether you are seeing a doctor, a nutritionist, or a trainer, all of them advise eating more protein. Foods, drinks, and supplements are loaded with extra protein. Many people use protein for weight control while others believe it gives them more energy. Now, weight loss expert Dr. Garth Davis asks, "Is all this protein making us healthier?" The answer, he emphatically argues, is no.

Where did the universe come from? What was there before it? What will the future bring? And finally, why is there something rather than nothing? Krauss’ answers to these and other timeless questions, in a wildly popular lecture on YouTube, has attracted almost a million viewers. One of the few prominent scientists to have actively crossed the chasm between science and popular culture, Krauss reveals that modern science is indeed addressing the question of why there is something rather than nothing—with surprising and fascinating results.

That which comes from nothing returns to nothing

This book blew my mind and my imagination. As an animator and science lover I was very impressed with comprehensive the subject matter is. My imagination sparked as he spoke about the future of our universe as well as the possible other universes. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn, whether they are science literate or not. After all your brain is most happy when it learns something new.
