Historia
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

I love the storyline of Mistborn, but
Revisado: 06-04-24
I detest the way Brandon treats his readers as stupid because they couldn’t figure out who was talking. When 2 people are in a conversation I don’t need to know who is talking after someone asks them a question. I swear half the book is composed of the words SAID. And people don’t say a question, they ask it. And why not mix up the word with other ones?
The narrator made the word SAID part of the story.
Again I love this story and think people should read it because of its beauty, but…just be prepared for hearing Saized SAID over and over….

Historia
For centuries, mystical creatures of all description were gathered to a hidden refuge called Fablehaven to prevent their extinction. The sanctuary survives today as one of the last strongholds of true magic in a cynical world. Enchanting? Absolutely. Exciting? You bet. Safe? Well, actually, quite the opposite... Kendra and her brother Seth have no idea their grandfather is the current caretaker of Fablehaven.

Not only poor narration
Revisado: 05-16-22
But the author treats people like they are dumb and couldn’t figure out who was talking. Having to identify who said what after every time they spoke was a huge distraction from the story for me. And it’s written in a lazy way. He said, she said instead of using other words to identify who’s talking. Especially when it’s only 2 people talking and one asks a question I don’t need the person who answered it identified. Just lazy writing skills.
This is my biggest pet peeve when every speech ends with who said it. Especially when the voice tells us who is speaking. GWTW was incredible for this type of writing. I have to quit listening after awhile because it’s so frustrating that it distracts me from the storyline.
Authors should read the critical reviews and see ho people respond to their writing.
Then there was the way EB Stevens made Seth sound like he was shouting every time he spoke and ended the sentence with a question mark. I’d love to see this rewritten and a different narrator used. I’d even pay for it again.
Good story but just not worth listening to.

Ray Porter rocks as usual
Revisado: 03-04-18
My problem with this book is the dialogue. Too many "he saids". When someone asks a question the dialogue should be "he asked ", not "he said" This goes on and on all through this book. I don't recall if Burke has done this in his other books. This type of dialogue bugs me because I'm constantly putting in the correct term that the writer should have used.
If this doesn't bother people, then the book is a great listen. But for some reason I have been noticing how writers use dialogue. This is what makes a good book, especially if it's being read. The narrator changes the voices and the dialogue isn't that important to me,
Just my thoughts on this book.

Historia
It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Wonderful start to the series
Revisado: 10-06-15
I got lost following the storyline, but when I listened to it again, it made more sense.
The only problem I had with the author's writing style was the number of times he wrote that people "hesitated , shrugged, paused and other types of delaying statements that for me took away from the flow of the story.
Other than that, I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next book in the series.

Or any other of Maberry's other short stories, then most stories in this book have already been published.
I listened to the Missing Files book, and read 2 others from Amazon, so only one story was new to me.
If you haven't already listened to Joe Ledger, Missing Files, then this a great addition to the Ledger series.

I love this series!
Revisado: 04-24-14
I don't have the writing skills to review this series like others do.
So if anyone is looking for a great action packed series, this it.
There is not one bit of lag in it.
And I love the way Larry rewrites history.
My favorite character is Faye of course.
I love the way Bronson reads and brings out her humor. She is so smart even tho she had no formal schooling.
Bronson does an amazing job with the different voices.
Get this series if you want to be entertained.

I hate being trated like an idiot
Revisado: 01-11-13
As many have written, Terry repeats the story line time after time. As if we haven't read any of the previous books.
Also, the narrator. If publishers decide to change narrators, they should make them listen to the previous ones to get not only the names correct, but also the way they speak.
Collin, Callin, Cora, ect.
Plus, we all know by know by now that Kahlen only needs to touch a person and unleash her power. I do not need to hear that time is hers for 2 minutes.
Nor do I need to know the ring the Sword makes or the power and magic behind it.
Now to the glaring plot hole.
Their wedding. It was obvious that it was threatened to happen. So, they should have just gotten married. Yes, I know it would ruin the whole plot, but I hate plot holes.
And poor Richard and his insecurity.
We went through that in SOTs. But he knows Kahlen loves him, but he constantly gets his feelings hurt.
Plus Jagang's sexual appetities read like porn. The violence I understand, explains what the Order stands for.
But the treatment of the women reeks of misogyny.
Other then these things, I would give it a 5.
