Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

The Movie was Better
Revisado: 04-21-24
It’s a great story. Chris is a great guy who has done a lot for the country and I wanted to hear his story and from his perspective..
Unfortunately the book incorporated a lot of Tayas opinions and views in every chapter, and no offense but she’s just a basic emotional wife with cliche problems and views that nobody wants to hear. If her emotional rants were not in this book I would have rated it better.

Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

Great Read! (except the part on economies)
Revisado: 09-07-23
I kept seeing this book everywhere so decided to get it. The beginning couple of hours were amazing. A lot of good info that makes the mind wonder. As it got into human evolution midway through it dove deep into economy and how money and companies are ran which is driving away from the interesting stuff on actual human evolution and I found like 4-5 hours of similar technological focuses topics to be very boring. The end got interesting again, and only complaint is the last hour focuses a lot on AI and I feel at this point that crap is just being driving into our throats and nobody I know is asking for any of it. But it’s a great read overall, half the book is good interesting info that isn’t everywhere, and you will learn something for sure.

This is the story of the greatest empire the world has ever known. Simon Baker charts the rise and fall of the world's first superpower, focusing on six momentous turning points that shaped Roman history. Welcome to Rome as you've never seen it before - awesome and splendid, gritty and squalid. From the conquest of the Mediterranean beginning in the third century BC to the destruction of the Roman Empire at the hands of barbarian invaders some seven centuries later, we discover the most critical episodes in Roman history.

Limited Description of How events transpired
Revisado: 08-22-23
I wasn’t very happy with this title being completely new to learning about the Roman Empire the book jumps into a vague description of what’s going on with names of people involved as if it assumes you already know who they are. There is very little build up of each character and the book jumps from one emperor to the next where it’s hard to keep track of them, author also will say “in 380” as opposed to “the the year 380 AD” etc. in the end I got a birdseye view of how Roman Empire rose and failed, but I’m left very confused as to exactly how.

Historia
This landmark book is for those of us who prefer words to equations; this is the story of the ultimate quest for knowledge, the ongoing search for the secrets at the heart of time and space. Its author, Stephen W. Hawking, is arguably the greatest mind since Einstein. From the vantage point of the wheelchair, where he has spent the last 20 years trapped by Lou Gehrig's disease, Professor Hawking has transformed our view of the universe. A Brief History of Time is Hawking's classic introduction to today's most important scientific ideas.

Stephen Hawking brings us closer to the ultimate secrets at the very heart of creation.

The most trusted explainer of the most mind-boggling concepts pulls back the veil of mystery that has too long cloaked the most valuable building blocks of modern science. Sean Carroll, with his genius for making complex notions entertaining, presents in his uniquely lucid voice the fundamental ideas informing the modern physics of reality. In the tradition of the legendary Richard Feynman lectures presented sixty years ago, this book is an inspiring, dazzling introduction to a way of seeing that will resonate across cultural and generational boundaries for many years to come.

So much math
Revisado: 10-24-22
Too much math Sean Carroll, I knew there would be some math but this was too much math and I didn’t learn much. I’m not trying to learn math or equations and this book was not advertised as a text book.
If you wrote a book that is 15 hours long solely talking about the behavior of an electron with no math, that would have been a much better book.
Still love you.

Historia
In a time when our political and cultural views feel more polarized than ever, Tyson provides a much-needed antidote to so much of what divides us, while making a passionate case for the twin chariots of enlightenment—a cosmic perspective and the rationality of science. After thinking deeply about how science sees the world and about Earth as a planet, the human brain has the capacity to reset and recalibrates life’s priorities, shaping the actions we might take in response. No outlook on culture, society, or civilization remains untouched.

Historia
In a rare blend of scientific insight and writing as elegant as the theories it explains, Brian Greene, one of the world's leading string theorists, peels away the layers of mystery surrounding string theory to reveal a universe that consists of 11 dimensions where the fabric of space tears and repairs itself, and all matter-from the smallest quarks to the most gargantuan supernovas-is generated by the vibrations of microscopically tiny loops of energy.

A lot of good, a LOT
Revisado: 07-10-22
This book is one of my favorites at diving into a complex subject around string theory. It’s my 4th time reading it as I never learned about these subjects at school and with each read I understand more and more. The complexity and length of this book is honestly an addiction. Like finding an endless supply of your favorite food, and although you can’t eat it all at once it always draws you back for more. The analogies Brian uses keeps your imagination at work with rewarding insights at every turn!

Revisado: 03-24-22
Really enjoyed this book and Frank Wilczek is like Mozart with words that best describe quantum world. The narrator perfectly emphasized on the importance of each sentence to further guide your attention towards a better understanding of each topic. The book covers simple topics and gets complex so there is something for everyone in the quantum realm. The analogies in explanations are very well done. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
Neil deGrasse Tyson has a talent for guiding readers through the mysteries of outer space with stunning clarity and almost childlike enthusiasm. This collection of his essays from Natural History magazine explores a myriad of cosmic topics. Tyson introduces us to the physics of black holes by explaining what would happen to our bodies if we fell into one; he also examines the needless friction between science and religion, and notes Earth's status as "an insignificantly small speck in the cosmos".
