There was nothing to dislike. The stories painted pictures even for a city girl like me. I was amazed, amused or just thoroughly interested.

Excellent- so good
Revisado: 07-16-23
I enjoyed this book the most. How did Harry’s name end up is the Goblet of Fire? Three feats had to be accomplished; and I struggled with Harry as he went through each one. As he prepared for the last one, the maze, his friends showed true friendship as they spent hours finding spells for Harry. The ending of the maze was absolutely amazing! Narration by Jim Dale was superb!

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Once again I was taken to Hogwarts School as first year Harry Potter had so many adventures with his friends and by himself. The narrator was incredible! It was enjoyable to listen to a story which included a quidditch match! There are so many awesome adventures including spells, magic wands, trolls and unicorns. Cheers for Harry Potter!

My Second Audible on the Pacific War
Revisado: 05-27-23
At last I better understand the Pacific arena. My Marine dad landed on the second wave of Iwo Jima. He never talked about the war - ever. Now I know more of what the war in the Pacific was like. These characters were like real people with skills, hunger as food ran low, with patients who had devastating injuries; all with considerable courage. At last I feel I have a better understanding of the thoughts, fears and hopes of the people who fought for us in the Pacific.

Wonderful historical fiction story.
Revisado: 05-16-23
It was so great to have a WWII story set in the Pacific Arena! My dad was on the second wave of Iwo Jima when he was twenty two! I have pictures of him in Manila. This is a wonderful story about real war experiences and the strong friendships made during wartime. The brutality of the Japanese was well researched. I’m so glad those years are behind, and Japan is our ally now. Again, this is a superior listen with an amazing narrator.

I agree, it’s a wonderful book.
Revisado: 04-15-23
Jinger did a great job narrating. It was a bit preachy, but it is a fascinating story. I was one of the many captivated and addicted to watching 19 Kids and Counting as it played out in a wonderful, amazing and sick way week after week. I watched it late at night in secret. I, too, am a Christian, yet I have always had freedom in my faith. I can’t believe how “locked in” this family was. I was incredulous watching them week after week. The whole courting business was an unheard of notion in our modern society. The dress, the mass food production of poor quality, bland food, the mass everything was a fascination to one who came from a family of two and had only two children myself. As a educator with forty years behind me, I suffered watching the joyless rote teaching these children endured. They never questioned it or rebelled (well, maybe they did?) I stopped watching when Michelle gave birth to the tiny baby girl. I pray she has thrived. Thank you, Jinger, for sharing your story. I’m thrilled you and Jeremy broke away. The only thing I miss is what happened to all your sisters and brothers? Maybe that’s another long book? May God continue to bless your life with grace and freedom from knowing God as a good and wise God.

Historia
In the little hamlet of Lark Rise times are changing and Laura is growing up. Although she must attend the nearby village school, she would far rather read and make up stories in her head. Real-life excitement comes, however, when she and her beloved younger brother Edmund are allowed to walk on their own to the grand market town of Candleford to stay with their relatives one summer. There, Laura discovers the joys of the shops, the ways of boy-talk with her cousins and the secret world of 'Bookworms Ltd' with her Uncle Tom, before an offer arrives that will determine her future.

Swept Away to English Countryside.
Revisado: 04-11-23
I’ve watched the BBC series, and I thoroughly enjoyed this more detailed glimpse into English country life. I sped up the narrative one notch as it seemed slow. Hearing this leaves me feeling I’ve learned a bit of my own English history that I would have missed. It’s wonderful to imagine my family back in a place like Candleford. I think American pioneer history must have been much the same!

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

It’s an amazing story by a British royal himself. His voice really shared his feelings about the ups and downs of his journey. I hope he and his family will enjoy our California lifestyle and take off the pressure cap!
I’ve traveled extensively, and have lived in Southern and Northern California all my seventy plus years, and love it here.

Historia
Lark Rise is Flora Thompson's childhood memories of a north Oxfordshire village, the people who lived and worked in it, and a way of life that has totally disappeared. The story is built around Laura and her brother Edmund, through whose eyes are seen 'old Sally', whose grandfather built the house she lived in before the enclosure of the heathland, children's games, the interaction of village and gentry, and the way in which the seasons governed life.

My husband and I are watching the BBC stories, but I really needed to listen to the the many details of this town. Flora Thompson brings the people and culture alive with words. I now have a sense of what some of my ancestors were like. I thoroughly enjoyed this look into history. Thank you.
