Disappointing ending because there wasn’t an ending. Koontz got distracted by another project maybe? Weird.

It's pleasant albeit a bit romantic and naive. I pretended it was written by a college student which helped me enjoy it.

It's a fascinating adventure into a world that seems believable enough yet horrifying just the same. I spent the weekend listening and could hardly hit "pause."

Spoiler Alert: It's not a romance novel.

Connelly is getting old

A brilliant attorney and former Haller wife walks into the prison for a client meeting wearing a mask because she believes the recirculating air in the place could contain a Covid virus. She sits down for the meeting and removes the mask because, well viruses don't like to interrupt meetings.

Once again, Michael Connelly wants us to believe that his attorneys and police officers are fearless and smarter than most yet he has them acting stupid when - with hindsight - no one has to act stupid.

Covid hysteria has affected old men particularly hard, and it seems some still can't let it go. The story was "just okay" if you can get past the pointless partisan editorializing.

It was an OK story if you have a lot of house work and want a simple story to follow along.

Decades from now, all the trolls that torment Rowlings and her fans on social media will be long gone, but curious minds will still read this book. It's both a fanciful world she creates here and a very believable one.

After the "unveiling," I wished I could jump to the black heart Twitter page to find out what the crazy kids thought of the ending.

An academic is trained to explore many sides of an issue they study. This book fails miserably to do that. This is a history of the perceived victims told by the leaders of modern victimology on today’s college campus.

Shame on academics who fail to present the whole story in their pursuit of popularity in today’s deranged culture.

My big takeaway about this virus - you could collect every one of them today, and it would fit in a soda can! The virus is a mystery, and the explanations are easy to understand. When it gets super sciency, I jump forward because the stories are so interesting, dating back to 1976.

I did not know the Russian flu resulted from a laboratory leak.

It's hard to imagine, with all the high-tech equipment, particular protocols, airtight rooms, special attire, that a scientist can still become infected with a virus they study. Fascinating how the Chinese scientists for decades have dealt with secrecy and shame at making a mistake, leading to the virus spreading.

If you're super sensitive to criticisms of the Chinese Communist Party, you probably won't like this book.

For me, I understand more clearly how just a handful of people changed the course of human history over just a few weeks and why censorship and coercion are the most significant challenges scientists face today.
