Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

I like both authors and the narrator but this book could have been about half as long.

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Meh

Meh. Pretty cliche. I’m having quite a hard time finishing it. White knuckling it to the end…I can always update the review if an authentic surprise ending turns up.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Favorite narrator.
Favorite story.
Perfect combo of detail vs big pic, wide range of character with great character development, such a thin line between science and fiction it’s (almost) seamless, narrator strikes the perfect pitch for each character-especially the protagonist. Highly recommend!

Worst free book ever!!!
Revisado: 01-27-17
Oh, this was just a sorry excuse of a free "book". The dear little "Goodnight Moon" with its rhymes and cozy imagery was supposed to be the model for this terribly written nonsense. It is NOT a relaxing way to get to sleep. Insomniacs beware!!

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Historia
In the six volumes of the Library of the World’s Best Mystery and Detective Stories, Julian Hawthorne presents us thrilling and mysterious short stories from all corners of the world. Some of the stories appeared in this 1907 collection for the first time translated into English, and many of them come from unexpected sources, such as the letters of Pliny the Younger, or a Tibetan manuscript. In the first volume, we find stories written by American authors.

Worst Narrator Ever
Revisado: 06-29-16
I have well over 100 audio books which means that when I say this is the worst narrator I've ever heard, I say it with some experience behind me. Mispronounced words, inappropriate pauses between words in a phrase, and pronouncing "a" with a long-a sound to mention just a few. I'm not even sure if the stories were any good - the narration was too distracting.

Historia
The Great War has ended at last. Archaeologist Amelia Peabody and her husband, Emerson, the distinguished Egyptologist, no longer fear for the life of their daring son, Ramses, now free from his dangerous wartime obligations to British Intelligence. Delightful new additions to the growing Emerson family and new wonders waiting to be discovered beneath the shifting Egyptian sands mark a time of new beginnings in Luxor.

Abominable Abridgement
Revisado: 06-19-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
What in the world! How can we get to books 14 and 15 - after being faithful followers of not only Amelia, but Elizabeth and Barbara - and be betrayed by such an abominable abridgement??? For shame! Leaving so much out of this work leads the reader to believe that perhaps Ms. Peters is losing her touch. . . carry on dear reader - the rest of the books are whole as is the author's continued ability to charm and entertain.
Has Children of the Storm turned you off from other books in this genre?
Certainly not of the genre, but certainly of abridgements, most abridged books are disgraceful. (I will have to admit that The Professor and the Madman is a noteable exception to my ranting.)
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Absolutely! I keep wishing I could see Amelia and Emerson on screen and have spent some considerable minutes imagining who should play the parts. I have come to no satisfactory conclusions.
Any additional comments?
I would gladly pay again for this book should it come out in an unabridged version.
