I loved the fully human and relatable characters who could work through difficult situations and still find humor and fun. The narrators had amazing chemistry and the banter had me laughing out loud! Well done and I hope to read more from this author.

Great Palate Cleanser!

Coming off of a dark book, I was looking for a brighter, lighter mood. This story met that need and then some. It gave Dorothy in magical Oz fantasy vibes as the FMC uncovers her origin and destiny. The Narrator was fantastic! Great male voice and distinctive voices for the multiple characters maintained consistently throughout the story. Great for YA. I look forward to the next book in the series and more from the Narrator.

Narration is perfect!

After eyeball reading this book last year, I wondered how well the narrators would capture the Australian learning Italian, as well as the Italian switching back and forth between languages quickly and intensely. The answer: Perfectly! The narration was so good, I lost myself in the story a second time! Well done!

The Words of a Survivor

Britney is surviving generational trauma, abuse, exploitation and manipulation during her most vulnerable years by the family who should have protected her. The damage to her ability to trust, her self worth, and confidence in her own ability to make decisions cannot be overstated. Her personal care and growth was stunted by those who only cared about how much money they could take from her. I truly hope that Britney can find the love and support she needs and the wisdom from her past to figure out who is safe to trust. This book is a positive step in her reclaiming her voice and her light.

All around perfect storytelling

From the delicious gothic setting through unexpected plot twists and turns to enthralling character evolution, this story captivates. Kristin Atherton’s narration reflects amazing creativity and range from the spry child voices to the deep masculine gravitas of her male characters. I will be looking for more of her performances!

Campy gore perfectly dished!

What an incredible and unique entertainment experience! The story and the acting were so creative and vivid that I was grateful for the audio format as I do not think I could handle actual visual images. The ability of the author to create characters who were quirky, funny, intense, romantic, independent, and charming and then be able to entice the audience into cheering them on during their gruesome competitive adventures is a skill that cannot be overstated. Lucy Rivers and Joe Arden’s dynamic character range and charismatic banter elevated the story into a delightful dance that I didn’t want to end. Highly recommend for the spooky season.

Sara Cate does it again

Antihero has an intriguing storyline with great character arcs. The voice actors are well cast and the duet narration showcased their strong chemistry. Characters were vulnerable, yet intelligent, and able to tackle issues of faith without demeaning either side. It’s a tricky dance to maneuver and Sara Cate executes perfectly.

What a ride!

I’ve previously found that a lot of dark romance tends to fall flat with character development and storytelling in favor of gratuitous acts barely strung together, so dark romance has not held much appeal for me personally.

This story was NOT that! The story was layered and anchored, yet original and captivating. On the surface, the characters seem to mold to traditional villain, virgin, and good guy roles until…
And the journey is incredibly complex, provoking unexpected feelings and reactions.

And the narrators! The elevated performances were mesmerizing and heartbreaking. I was hooked on every sigh, every breath, every sob. Desiree Ketchum and Joe Arden’s duet was perfectly choreographed and complemented each other’s energy. The rage was matched with tenderness, faith with cynicism, darkness with light. Compelling and addictive, I became lost in these characters.

If you can get past the triggers, the experience is worth it. Bravo!
