Historia
It is 1921 and at Cassowary House in the Straits Settlements of Penang, Robert Hamlyn is a well-to-do lawyer and his steely wife Lesley a society hostess. Their lives are invigorated when Willie, an old friend of Robert's, comes to stay. Willie Somerset Maugham is one of the greatest writers of his day. But he is beleaguered by an unhappy marriage, ill-health and business interests that have gone badly awry. He is also struggling to write. The more Lesley's friendship with Willie grows, the more clearly she see him as he is—a man who has no choice but to mask his true self.

The Title of the book
Revisado: 05-05-24
The story is beautifully written.
The story, like the writing is compelling with many twists and turns right to its ending.

Historia
For years, rumors of the 'Marsh Girl' have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved.

Take a mini vacation and read the Old Ducks Club
Revisado: 04-16-22
A friend recommended this book and it seems that most of my friends have read it and enjoyed it we are all in our early 60’s and totally related to Maddies descriptions of what 60 year old woman go through, enjoy about life and what they don’t enjoy! Maddie describes Rhodes Island In Greece so beautifully you feel like you have been away on a mini vacation yourself!! It’s a beautiful story of friendship and a must read for anyone who treasures their friends and loves travel especially to Greece! Not to give anything away…. Romance is woven into the story making it a compulsive read!
