Historia
Always leave a little salt on the bread. Ikey Solomon's favorite saying is also his way of doing business, and in the business of thieving he's very successful indeed. Ikey's partner in crime is his mistress, the forthright Mary Abacus, until misfortune befalls them. They are parted and each must make the harsh journey from thriving nineteenth century London to the convict settlement of Van Diemen's Land.

Wonderful historical novel!
Revisado: 02-11-13
Would you listen to The Potato Factory again? Why?
It is a wonderful book, but I never listen to a book again nor do I watch a movie twice.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I really liked Iky Soloman and Mary Abacus. Although they had to do many illegal, immoral things, it was because of their life situations and I loved that they had integrity and and that they used their intelligence and instincts to survive unthinkable conditions.
Which character – as performed by Humphrey Bower – was your favorite?
Iky Solomon. I cannot imagine any other voice for him, he was perfect!
If you could rename The Potato Factory, what would you call it?
I thought that was a perfect name. When you begin with the book, it does not seem to fit but as Mary is imprisioned on the island and then creates her own brewery, it all goes back to Iky and his influence over her and then her adopted sons. It is her salvation.
Any additional comments?
I loved the book. Historical fiction has never interested me before and I do not know why I bought this book but I am so glad that I did. I love the characters and seeing how their backgrounds have affected their development. The historical information included also has been extremely interesting. I am now listening to the 2nd part of the trilogy, Tommo and Hawk and am engrossed in it also.

I enjoy the Virgin River Series.
Revisado: 07-30-12
Where does Angel’s Peak rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I enjoyed it a lot. It is not a deep book with thought provoking ideas or history but sometimes it is nice to listen to a book with happy endings and nice love stories.
What other book might you compare Angel’s Peak to and why?
Virgin River. It has some of the same characters and the same settings.
Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. It was comparable with the other two I have listened to. I have enjoyed them all.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No, I just enjoyed it.
Any additional comments?
I travel for work and it is an easy book to listen to. The characters are well developed and it always kept my interest. I was always ready to get back in the car so I could continue the story.

This was a disappointing book!
Revisado: 06-11-12
What would have made The Bird Sisters better?
The book's plot was very difficult to get involved in and the reader's voice was irritatingly slow. I even increased the speed but it did not help much.
What could Rebecca Rasmussen have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The plot did not get interesting until the end of the book. I kept thinking this has to get better and it finally did but it took most of the book to get there.
What didn’t you like about Xe Sands’s performance?
Her slow drawl just did not enhance the book at all. It sounded like she had just gotten out of bed and had not quite woken up yet.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It had a decent ending, it just needed more to build up to it.

I really liked this book!
Revisado: 06-04-12
Would you consider the audio edition of The Darling Dahlias and the Cucumber Tree to be better than the print version?
I enjoyed the reader and believe it added to the listening experience. I think this falls in the same category as the Janet Evonivich mysteries. I would not read her books any more as I love to listen to them. I have listened to everyone of them on recordings and now will be looking forward to adding Susan Albert books read by Peggity Price to my list.
What other book might you compare The Darling Dahlias and the Cucumber Tree to and why?
The Janet Evonovich mysteries. I like the reader and the characters.
Have you listened to any of Peggity Price’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, this was the first.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me laugh several times and cry a little when they all gathered to help the young boy that escaped the prison camp.
Any additional comments?
I liked the book also because it was a nice, clean bookd and I could listen to it in the car with my sons present.
