I am an older, lol old, avid reader. It has been years since a book touched me so that I cried! Time travel is not so far fetched as it was when I was young and I was able to embrace and enjoy the endless possibilities. The story wrapped around me and I finished in one day. Thanks to Ms Chamberlain for this gentle love story and to Ms Bennett for a wonderful performance.

Editors Randy Chandler and Cheryl Mullenax put the call out to horror writers and editors of extreme stories, the hardcore stuff that breaks boundaries and trashes taboos, the transgressive tales you can't "unread" (as Chuck Palahniuk says). Some of the stories you'll find here are loaded with very graphic descriptions of violence, sex, and depravities, while others may contain only one shocking moment of brutality. In others, the hardcore aspect may be less graphic and subtler than you might expect.

OK, They warn you in the beginning, I wasn't listening! Hardcore is Hardcore no matter the format. 90% of the stories were enjoyable, scary, funny or just good Horror. The other 10% were SO out of my league. I finally just skipped a few when the violence, language or disgusting sexual portrayal was too much. My review is based on the majority of the stories - the 90% I read. Some of these stories were really, really good! The book is worth reading, just be prepared. The narrator, Joe Hempel, did a great job. I was gifted this book via Audiobook Boom in exchange for an unbiased review.

Starting with the title I had a little trouble at the start figuring out Who was Who and WHY. But once I did I enjoyed the story and fast moving pace. A little twist in the plot and we are hooked for Book 2. The characters were well developed. The narration was very good and easy to listen to. There was more steamy sex than mystery. When a book is touted as a mystery and the FBI & investigative reporter are there to uncover and stop the bad guy I don't expect or want GRAPHIC sexual exploits. Sorry, but while I expect a blooming romance to be part of the book, I was looking forward to a mystery. I was gifted this good via Audiobook Boom in exchange for an unbiased review.

This book is a lot more than "A Ghost Story". Family - past, present & future is a complicated "animal" with many secrets and every member may have a different feel and recollection of the same past. Often we do the wrong thing for the right reason. I enjoyed this book and think there will be a #2. The narrator did a very good job. Just remember, you can't judge a book by it's cover! P.I. Harmon Ulrich is a fantastic character! What a hoot. Can't wait to be with him again. Creative and humorous. The story was entertaining and a seamless read. The narrator Jake Urry did a wonderful job. I really enjoyed this book and will wait in line for book #2.

I enjoyed the story and the dialog between the characters which was very natural and down to earth. Farfetched but fun. The narrator did a good job when in conversation mode but a real disappointment otherwise. Narrators for audible books are ACTORS. Great and even good actors make the story come alive. Mr. Roberts did good when in character voice but just READ the words when narrating.
