The threat that the United States presents, even weakened as it has been by economic turmoil, however, is not one that they can underestimate, and with American production lines already turning out fighter aircraft that are a threat to the Bloc's Type 198 Fighters, the Council finds that it must act.

High paced and realistic

Both this and the previous book in the series uses current economic and political trends to give a possible example of what may happen in 50 or so years. Only problem I have with this one is the logistics at the end of the book, author seems to forget that some things are finite resources.

Good story, bad characters

Story was decent for awhile until MC got involved with his love interest, then the story devolves with him trying to do everything to appease her, which is never enough. The MC shines when he is away from his love interest isn’t in the picture and reverts to a housewife as soon as she enters line of sight.

Starts strong

Starts strong but as the story goes on the Mac makes basic mistakes and impulsive decisions that should get home in trouble with the locals. Combat is ok but his rate of growth is fast and with no direction, killing enemies way over level with no solid reason for why he could get away with taking on those enemies.

Few time narrator forgets who’s talking but good the rest of time. Good overall world building for the system, but it has a few political rants that are detractive to the story and may put off some.
