Historia
Whether taken as a book of faith or a cultural artifact, the New Testament is among the most significant writings the world has ever known, its web of meaning relied upon by virtually every major writer in the last 2,000 years. Yet the New Testament is not only one of Western civilization’s most believed books, but also one of its most widely disputed, often maligned, and least clearly understood, with a vast number of people unaware of how it was written and transmitted.

Biased and Antagonistic
Revisado: 08-22-17
If you are looking for an unbiased, academic discourse on the New Testament, this is not for you. Whereas Mr. Ehrmann begins by claiming to make a fact-based historically analysis, his snideness and antagonism to Christianity overshadow and color everything he states. This should have been correctly marketed as "Bart Ehrmann's Thesis for Why Christianity is Wrong." I gave him an extra star only because his scholarship on Paul of Tarsus, mediocre as it was, was less biased. If you want a guy who blames Nazism and the Holacaust on Christianity this is your guy. If you want to learn about the Bible, try someone who exhibits animosity and can fairly assess the historicity of the New Testament. He uses the phrase "lower class" so frequently with respect to Jesus and his Apostles, I have to imagine it is a phrase Mr. Ehrmann does not limit to a biblical context.

Historia
The purpose of studying the Old Testament is to understand God and his redemptive work more fully. However, this goal is complicated by the fact that it was transmitted through a very different language and culture from our own. A Survey of the Old Testament provides an indispensable guide for undergraduate students and other listeners by exploring the literary, historical, and theological issues behind the Old Testament and its various books.

,Well-done and extremely thoughtful
Revisado: 07-16-17
This is a beautiful and thoughtful survey of the Old Testament. Whether for catholics protestants or orthodox christians, this is extremely valuable and open to all. And maybe most importantly those who are uncertain of their beliefs.
