Historia
For Susan Green, messy emotions don’t fit into the equation of her perfectly ordered life. She has a flat that is ideal for one, a job that suits her passion for logic, and an “interpersonal arrangement” that provides cultural and other more intimate benefits. But suddenly confronted with the loss of her mother and the news that she is about to become a mother herself, Susan’s greatest fear is realized. She is losing control.

Absolutely loved this book

This book was wonderfully entertaining. Beautifully read and what great accents! The end turned a wee bit sentimental for me… thus the 4 stars instead of 5… but overall it was a really fun ride.

An absolutely gripping, visually compelling, wonderful book.
Revisado: 04-20-23
Listening to this book was an extraordinary journey back eons in time into another world. The book is powerfully visual, a wonderful mix of dinosaur science and personal paleontologist story. It calls into question all the arrogant assumptions of humans as being primary on the planet and associated religious beliefs. This book is a must read. Bravo.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

Wonderful book. The characters are so well drawn, one feels that they are absolutely real. A book filled with beautiful description and nostalgia and longing. Exquisitely read by Tom Hanks. I’m so sorry it’s over

Historia
When she stumbles across the ad, she’s looking for something else completely. But it seems like too good an opportunity to miss - a live-in nannying post, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten - by the luxurious “smart” home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family. What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare - one that will end with a child dead and herself in prison awaiting trial for murder.

Loved this book. Couldn’t put it down. I was unsure at first but by chapter 2 it had me hooked. I think the ending, while very sad and thought provoking, loses a bit of the pacing, overall it was imaginative and gripping and the reading is terrific

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

The most engaging book. I hung on every word.
Revisado: 04-21-21
The Help is one of the most enthralling books I’ve read in ages. Told in a series of voices, it’s a vignette about the relationships between African American maids and their white employers in a small Mississippi town in the early 60’s. The characters are so well drawn, it’s impossible to believe they aren’t actual people. It was such a riveting book that i couldn’t put it down. Thought- provoking, emotional, it will linger long after it’s finished. A brilliant book
