Over Hyped and Boring
Revisado: 02-13-25
I knew that this series was extremely popular and had read the ACOTR series by the same author. While I thought this might happen, based on the books description, I was still disappointed. Nothing unexpected happens. The main character is the nations best assassin, so go figure at the end of this tournament to become the nations assassin, she wins. There was no tension or stakes because the MC was not an underdog. Even the author doesn't try to make her appear that way.
The romantic interests were bland. There is the Crown Prince, who's entire personality is "I don't like my father, but I won't do anything against him." I don't even recall any other parts of his personality. The other potential interest in the young Captain of the Royal Guard, who is all about honor. For some reason both become attracted to the MC and I can only think because she's the MC.
The final issue with this book is that the MC is supposed to be the nations best assassin but acts like a teenager who has never had to fight or kill. She is absolutely skilled, but her personality doesn't reflect the life she's supposed to have had. The Captain of the Royal Guard is the same way. Somehow, this person obtained such a prominent position without having ever really been in battle or having killed everyone. Keep in mind, this nation is constantly at war, so it seems weird that the Kings head body guard is not a battle veteran.
I'll read the next book, hoping the story gets far more interesting. I can't even be disappointed because I knew this was probably going to be a boring book.

The world ends in a slew of blue notification boxes, bringing with it a game-like existence including monsters and Classes. Now, John has to make his way from Kluane National Park in the Yukon to Whitehorse through monster-infested forests. But, that's not enough; because he'll need to help rebuild civilization itself around the System, aliens, and monsters. And, as always, humanity will be its own greatest enemy.

A lack luster system integration novel.
Revisado: 02-13-24
This book has an interesting concept that is executed poorly. The biggest issue is that the author (and main character) go on about how this is the new grim reality with nearly all humans dying in the first few months and the need to be cautious to survive. Yet the MC very quickly (after stating the above) makes several rash decisions that should have gotten him (and presumably what happened to the rest of humanity) killed. Plot armor is the only reason the MC can be reckless and not die while everyone else does. There is also no real story after 3 books and no reason to continue. The voice acting is exceptional though, as is to be expected for Nick Podhel.

Historia
Since the Cold War, outer space has become of strategic importance for nations looking to seize the ultimate high ground. World powers establishing a presence there must consider, among other things, how they will conduct warfare in orbit. Leaders must dispense with "Buck Rogers" notions about operations in space and realize that policies there will have serious ramifications for geopolitics. How should nations view space? How should they fight there? What would space warfare look like and how should strategists approach it?

Historia
The year is 2076, and mankind has perfected VR technology using the Chip, an implant that interfaces directly with the human brain, using it like an organic computer. Age of Anarchy Online (AAO) is the newest game released by Icestorm, makers of the legendary World of Destiny (WoD). Unlike VR games before it, AAO promises a 110 percent “Better Than Life” realism experience, and to showcase this, Icestorm announces that AAO will have no “Out of Character” rules, save for actions like hacking or exploiting system errors.

Historia
On a little-known planet, Archmage Varic Vallenar casts a grand spell to empower himself with the magical abilities of his alternate selves. The ritual works too well, granting Varic not only the magic but also the memories from six lives. Including their gruesome deaths. Now, Varic has power greater than any wizard in galactic history, but he knows that won’t be enough. The enemies he faced in those alternate lives were apocalyptic in scale. Terrors of technology and magic. Nothing that he, or anyone, can defeat.

The characters are all one dimensional, there are no stakes, the MC is a Mary Sue, the world makes no sense, and the MC has no motive other than to get stronger for the stake of getting stronger.

Idiot Main Character
Revisado: 08-17-22
This story would be better if the characters weren't idiots and the magic system made sense. The MC is a hypothetical marry sue and like so many other progression fantasy books, the author fails to realize that the generals in a war should not necessarily just be whoever is strongest.

Boring Sex Cultivation Novel
Revisado: 02-09-22
First, this book is not like Cradle at all. I made the mistake of getting it because others said that in their reviews and they were wrong. Second, this book suffers from three major flaws: length, sex, and characters. This book could easily be half as long and still tell the same story. Towards the end I had to skip chapters and change the speed to 2X to get through it. Next, the entire premise of this book is about sex. The author goes into stupid amounts of detail about sex cultivation (magic) and everyone wants to have sex with the female protagonist. It's even the male protagonist's motivation to actually do stuff. As a result of this focus, there is rape in the novel. Third, both of the main characters are boring Mary Sues who face no real challenges, are overpowered, have stupid motivations, and have everything handed to them by literal gods. In summary, this book is only focused on getting to Mary Sues to fall in love with each other and felt more like a weird fanfiction than a good story. Do not waste a credit on this
