I know this is an interesting true crime story but in the hands of this author it is bogged down with brutally detailed descriptions of everything that go on and on and are supposed to be oh so poetic...along with way too many bad metaphors. Not everything need's to be described with a metaphor. The dialogue is worthy of any poorly written soap opera and includes a scene where one person just says "yeah" over and over again. The narrator just plain sucks when it comes to doing women's dialogue. All the women are made to sound like whining babies. "Oh honey, honey....blah blah blah...sniffle sniffle whine...". Gag.

I like this series of books by Laurien Berenson and this is the first one I listened to rather than read myself. The stories are good and entertaining so it's the narrated version I have a problem with as the narrator goes a bit fast and I have to work the keep up with who is saying what line. Worse than that is the voice of Aunt Peg, the most colorful character in the series. Her character is read with a thick, haughty British accent that sometimes begins to sound like she's also a Valley Girl. So far in any of the books I've read Aunt Peg was neither described as being British royalty or as a ditzy girl from San Fernando Valley. The way Aunt Peg's character is being read really sounds utterly ridiculous.

This was well worth listening to. I think we can all find a way to feel a connection to this story.

I struggled to get through this but couldn't make it to the finish line. 1. Jennifer Drake's sobbing and wailing seemed like really bad over- acting and it was just plain annoying. The narrator was almost as bad just without all the sobbing and keening. 3. I got this title because I felt the subject of cyber-bullying is topical and needs to be addressed and what I got from this book is one person was being accused of bullying and so the self-righteous out there decided it would be best to in turn bully her and then they were given this interview platform in which to justify their behavior. 4. I really don't care what goes on in the porn industry. People make their choice to work in it so they can stay in it or leave.

Any one of us could’ve written the same book about our own work experiences. This is mostly a litany of grievances against incompetent managers and bosses with some explanations about the job of freight pilot thrown in. I don’t disagree that we all have these same types of experiences but why relive someone else’s story when we all have our own?
