This was a fascinating review on the origin of Dinosaurs with updates on the recent discoveries of feathered Dinosaurs in China, including a discussion of why birds are almost certainly the modern descendants of Dinosaurs. A very enjoyable and informative two hour listen.

What did you like best about Dracula? What did you like least?

The story is fantastic and reading it for ones' self there are no problems in picturing the various characters and their characteristics. However, much of my pleasure in listening to this audiobook rendition of Bramstoker's fantastic novel, was removed by the heavy handed and unrealistic Germanic pronunciation of Dr. van Helsing. As someone who lived in the Netherlands for 30 years and became well attuned to the nuances of English pronunciation by Dutch and Germans, this portrayal of Van Helsing is ludicrous. Now having said all that, if you are not aware of the differences in English pronunciation of different European nationalities, then this audiobook production of Dracula is still worth listening to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dracula?

Gripping all the way through

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrator?

Beats me, but some one much more competent with European English pronunciations

Could you see Dracula being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

This is already over worked

Any additional comments?

None

Dumas' uncompleted novel

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 12-06-09

What is it about many 19th century novelists that they could write such gripping and well researched historical novels? The fascinating thing about this recently rediscovered novel of Alexandre Dumas set in the Napoleonic period, is its attention to historical detail and every chapter gives insights into the political and social tensions of that turbulent period. An excellent history lesson and a great story-line superbly narrated by Simon Prebble. And what a brilliant touch of Dumas to portray the hero as the french-man responsible for killing Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar. Pity that Dumas died without completing the novel, but even without an end worth every one of the 35+ hours in the car spent listening. This audio-book has motivated me to now go back and listen to the other Dumas novels that I first encountered as a teenager nearly 60 years ago.
