The writing and delivery were both delightful. (did that sound British? I hope so).
Revisado: 03-08-25
To re-summorise the writing and delivery were delightful! I didn't have any specific expectations if this book and I was thoroughly pleased with the content and the insight that it provided.
At times I found myself laughing out loud and frequently had a large grin on my face.
If you are fond of Monty Python and or John Cleese, I can't imagine you not really enjoying this Audio Book!

Timely information on the original of US governmen
Revisado: 11-08-22
A reasonable length course on the documents that were written as advice to the constitutional convention of 1787. the course reviews the federalist papers, why they were written and by whom. how did they affect the writing of the Constitution. Also addresses is the adoption of amendments 3 thru 12 as the first 10 amendments to the Constitution.
The material is helpful in better understanding the separation of power between the states and the federal government and why it is important for them to keep each other in check.

An enjoyable, informative and interesting story
Revisado: 02-16-22
I truly enjoyed the entity of this book. I was born about the same time as the boys and could relate to the time and family life that they experienced. Hearing Clint and Ron read their story made it all the better. Now it's time to take a look at some of those shows and films that I learned of in the book
Thanks for this wonderful telling of your early lives.

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Enlightening look at life in the U. S.
Revisado: 11-27-21
I found this book compelling to read. one that I was always anxious to hear what was next. The information presented is not easy to hear but I found it to be much more valuable than any other information I have received on the subject.
I've attended many diversity training sessions in my corporate life. They could have been so much more effective if this perspective was at least part of the material and discussion.
Not everyone will be able to read this to its completion. I hope those who do will take its message to heart.

Historia
In Our Time contains several early Hemingway classics, including the famous Nick Adams stories "Indian Camp", "The Doctor and the Doctor's Wife", "The Three Day Blow", and "The Battler", and introduces listeners to the hallmarks of the Hemingway style: a lean, tough prose, enlivened by an ear for the colloquial and an eye for the realistic that suggests, through the simplest of statements, a sense of moral value and a clarity of heart.

Revisado: 06-11-21
Having recently watched the 6 hour Ken Burns special on Hemingway, several titles I had not read came to my attention. This one was identified as one of his best.
It's very enjoyable and I expect to come back to it repeatedly in the future. Some if the stories are less than a minute and many have characters that reemerge throughout the book. Bull fighting, horse racing and life growing up in a simpler time.
The read by Stacy Keach is excellent and overall this book was very enjoyable.

Historia
Why is religion still around in the 21st century? Why do so many still believe? In Why Religion? Elaine Pagels looks to her own life to help address these questions. These questions took on a new urgency for Pagels when dealing with unimaginable loss - the death of her young son, followed a year later by the shocking loss of her husband. Here she interweaves a personal story with the work that she loves, illuminating how religious traditions have shaped how we understand ourselves; how we relate to one another; and how to get through the most difficult challenges we face.

Maybe just 'A Personal Story'
Revisado: 01-15-19
I kept waiting for the primary content to arrive but it just never did at least for me. At times it seemed like a tease to read her other books or perhaps a very long prolog to her other books. it was interesting to hear a little about the Nag Hammadi library but it was only peripheral and perhaps well covered in Pagels The Gnostic Gospels.
Finally I felt that the reading was disappointing. the emphasis frequently seemed to be odd and unlikely to be what the author intended. There were also many overdubs on words or names that the reader either mispronounced or stumbled over while speaking.
