Historia
They killed me. They healed me. They changed me. Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn't exactly glamorous, but it was mine. I was doing fine until Chicago's vampires announced their existence to the world---and then a rogue vampire attacked me. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker...and this one decided that the best way to save my life was to make me the walking undead.

it's a supernatural story
Revisado: 02-03-25
the female lead, the hero, are suppose to be strong, smart. But not just this storybut others, they come across as whiney, very stubborn. to stubborn to be smart. i really was hoping that this story would be different, but alas, the female lead, the story is average. Like the writer just couldn't pull it together enough.

Over all Jane Yellowrock isn't stupid.....
Revisado: 09-25-24
I started listening to this series with low hopes that I would like it. zBecause in most stories where they're if afemale lead, they make her a man hater, with the attirude i don't need help, because I'm a bad butt girl, which in turn makes her stupid. But I've been surprised.
I love the supernatural element to the stories, The characters are well thought out and built up. The story lines are fluid.
But there is one issue that makes listening.... aggravating sometimes. And that issue is... Jane's unwillingness to admit who she truly is. She plays the field thst she only works for the vampire Leo because of the money. But that's a lie, (I get that Fairh Hunter writes the story line but I wish she would change this aspect of of Janes personality)
She likes the vampires, she respects them in a sense. if she didn't she could not like her skin walker self/beast. The fact the she dorsnt research the vampires histories, the ones who she is working for or vamps in general, keeps getting her in trouble then she turns around a blame the vamps. The fact that she can't see the bigger picture of her actions sometimes infuriating. But other than that I love the stories. They are witty, they read fluidly and they have good characters.

Historia
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

i really enjoyed this...
Revisado: 10-22-22
I was looking for a book series somewhat like Sandman Slim or Southern Vampire Mysteries(True blood). i know, 2 very different type of books as far seriousness and plots. But I love both of those series!!
The few first books of series that I've tried before "Hounded" I just couldn't get into. Especially the ones with Female leads.
But, from the start, listening to this was enjoyable. I love the comic relief, not to much, corny. The sex that was evolved didn't go off the rails, which was nice.
I liked the progression of story line and the character development.
i would recommend this first book of The Iron Druid Series.

Historia
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of 30-something friends from Oxford meets to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students 10 years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands - the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves. They arrive on December 30, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world. Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.

I enjoyed it, but I didn't love it.
Revisado: 02-06-22
I enjoyed the plot, and the pace of the story, The main story line seemed promising, but it ended up being the same old story. College friends trying to hold on to their friendships from college and never facing the "secrets" that were already known. I did enjoy the side stories of the other characters.
I didn't care for switching of the story tellers. There was too many and I got lost a couple times and had to go back to see who was "talking" lol. It wasn't enough for me not to listen to story.... until.. the story started to tie up....it got drawn out... it's seemed some things could of been left out...... Over all though, it was entertaining and the things I didn't like are because of my preferences not so much the writing or story plot. So to sum it up, I would recommend the book.

I REALLY enjoy Dervla McTiernan
Revisado: 12-08-21
I've listen to a few of her books now and really enjoy the flow of the story. She builds up characters by telling their story, and sets stage the same way, not by describing them to death.(I hope you can understand what I mean) She leaves it up to the reader to make the movie in their minds.
AND she doesn't make her heroines so tough they can't admit when they are wrong, but tough enough not to be sniveling. She lets them learn and have doubt in themselves, they just don't give into it.
A life McMahon us one of my favorite readers. I love how she captures each characters mood and self.

I really did enjoy the book and the narration with the two different voices was nice.
But, I will have to admit I figured out the plot of the story really quickly. And some of it was repetitive. IMO. Even with that I found myself enjoying the story.

I grew up in Gainesville Fl. I remember seeing Against Me play for the first time and how much the music spoke to me. Since then I've followed Against ME and Laura Jane.
Her strength, her weaknesses, her determination has always touched me.
but to hear the story from her, not through party gossip or even witnessing some of it touches my soul in a way that I can't explain.
Thank you for being you, and bringing something unforgettable to my youth and young adult life that's had helped me in so many ways.

Can't go wrong with Charlaine Harris
Revisado: 08-23-20
I like the Lilly Bard series because, Lilly is strong, she knows who she is and she knows she has flaws also.
I like this story because it went into her past a little deeper, introduced us to her family, a couple of friends. Let us see what she was like before the "incident" little.
I love Jack! I love the relationship.
And as usual with Ms. Harris' stories, it is well written, laid out perfectly...( You know what's going on, who's talking, the characters at play, etc) and not to complicated but not so easy you know what's going before the 5th chapter.

I love The Pendergast Novels
Revisado: 07-28-20
I started to read the Pendergrast novels from novel 1, Relic, to now, The Wheel of Darkness. I gobble the books up. As soon as I'm done with one, I start the next one.
I'm not a Literary genius or a writing expert. I don't make my judgements off the correctness of punctuation and such. But rather on how the story makes me feel, keeps me interested, if it plays like a movie in my head, all with what the characters look like, the mannerisms and I can even " hear" the way they speak. All the Pendergast novels have done that for me, even thus one, except for some of the ships happenings, they seemed to go on forever. They are very detailed about the on goings of a ship inter workings.
But the introduction of the Tibetan monks, the involvement of Constance more, and a different scene other than the US was great, it was enough to make me gobble up the book, I just took more breaks than usual!!
If your a fan of A. X L. Pendergast, I'm sure you will be delighted in this novel as well.

I love this Series!!
Revisado: 05-17-20
I'm not a a literary genius or a English major. I judge my books on how the story flows. If a movie plays in my head as I'm listening or reading the story! if I can relate to the characters in the story if it in grosses me.
And Preston and Child's Pendergast series this for me! The only problem that I have had is with the story telling, is the narrators. Like in this one, he makes Pendergrast sound like a country folk other than a Aristocrat from Louisiana with that slight Cajun French southern accent that he has..
I love the way they blend reality with a surreal feel. I love how they take the history of NYC and blend it in with a scifi/fantasy feel. But not enough to make it unbelievable.
The development of characters is so great that you really do start to care or hate for each individual character. Even if it's a small part.
And I definitely love the use of characters from story to story. D'gostas, Dr. Green, Smithback.
and WOW!! The ending was a surprise!!
