Historia
In Three Stations, Arkady Renko’s skills are put to their most severe test. Though he has been technically suspended from the prosecutor’s office for once again turning up unpleasant truths, he strives to solve a last case: the death of an elegant young woman whose body is found in a construction trailer on the perimeter of Moscow’s main rail hub. It looks like a simple drug overdose to everyone—except to Renko, whose examination of the crime scene turns up some inexplicable clues.

Looking for a bigger challenge, Dara and her right-hand-man, Xavier LeBo, head to Djibouti to film modern-day pirates hijacking merchant ships. They learn soon enough that almost no one in the Middle East is who he seems to be. A long stupid monologue in various voices
Revisado: 09-21-24
This book was so boring I almost gave up on it but I wanted to leave a review to warn others. Off you expect an exciting Elmore Leonard move on to his next book. Half of it was eavesdropping on two people looking at film rushes if you can think of anything more boring write the sequel.

Historia
So what would Al Gore choose if he had a book club? Gore named Stendhal's The Red and the Black, a 19th century classic chock full of adultery, betrayal, and moral vacuity, as his favorite book on a recent broadcast of Oprah. It's a bit shocking of a choice, given his wife and running mate's position on clean, wholesome literature. Listen and decide for yourself the merit of this presidential pick.

Stendahl stands alone
Revisado: 07-15-24
This is a great novel with no precedents and decades ahead of George Eliot and Henry James. Additionally for modern tastes it has great dry humor and casts a thoroughly knowledgeable and penetrating eye at special mores and foibles

The narrator was painfully slow and not very emotional. I had to call the sped up to 1.3 to make it bearable.
Revisado: 02-25-24
It’s probably one of Elmore Leonard’s poorest books. I suffered through it once but will never read it again

Historia
This live performance of a powerful police procedural comes to life through the artistry of Celeste Lecesne and is accompanied by the original music of Duncan Sheik. Celeste portrays every character in a small Jersey Shore town as they unravel the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who has gone missing. A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is gone, Leonard becomes an unexpected inspiration as the town’s citizens question how they live, who they love, and what they leave behind.

I was very impressed by the excellent performance across many characters. The characterizations carried the story which seemed to go further than it had wings to go.

Extremely well written and performed book that puts you right in the reality of the clash between two cultures and the ugliness and heroism on both sides.
I rank it as LeMay’s greatest achievement.
