Fascinating look into the Glam Rock world and its environs.
Info on so many fascinating people of that time. Yes, Angie includes some errors while reading the book, but I see them as a glimpse into the creative mind and the process of creativity. You cannot be obsessed with perfection and be creative. You just go with the muse where it leads you and backtrack where you must. There would be no Glam Rock Era without Angie. Bravo! What a wonderful glimpse into a moment in time.

Was What's My Line TV star, media icon, and crack investigative reporter and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen murdered for writing a tell-all book about the JFK assassination? If so, is the main suspect in her death still at large? These questions and more are answered in former CNN, ESPN, and USA Today legal analyst Mark Shaw's 25th book, The Reporter Who Knew Too Much.

Excellent
Revisado: 08-23-21
Interesting and well researched book. This woman was obviously murdered like so many others. Watching the Zapruder film and knowing that no one or nothing shot from behind relics backward toward the source of the bullet. it is against the laws of physics. Kennedy was not killed by Oswald. It is amazing how gullible people are. Dorothy was onto the truth. But the villains are also obvious. End the cover up.

Historia
Seven-year-old little girls love their daddy. Kathy was no exception, so when her daddy started paying “special” attention to her, she felt “special” in turn. Her daddy loved her.
Few betrayals run as deep as the betrayal of being sexually abused throughout your childhood by the man you should have been able to trust with your life. For Kathy, the betrayal ran deeper because when she finally found the courage to start speaking out about what her abuser did to her, her family responded by labeling her a liar and a troublemaker. Kathy didn’t stop speaking out, though.

The beginning of Kathy's story is hard to hear, but the story of how she built her strength back and became the hero of her own life is amazing and inspiring. l highly recommend this book.

Great Book
Revisado: 06-19-20
Very Interesting. Lots of new info not in Hammer of the Gods and other books. Some of the names of rockers were mispronounced. In an audio book, that is hard to follow, and it took me 30 secs on the computer to verify. But the text is great, and I recommend it.

Great Book - Honest and Bittersweet
Revisado: 08-05-19
This account is painfully honest and heartbreaking to listen to at times. It exemplifies that mad highs and lows of fame and wealth from a woman who seems to only be searching for something real and true. No one in her life and in the book is dashed but treated as the complex humans they are. I was fascinated by every word and hope the writer continues to heal and blossom. Tatum is a greatly underestimated actress.

Historia
When Ryan O'Connell went to stay for a week at the glamorous Chateau Marmont hotel last summer, he didn't quite know what to expect. Would he become instant BFF's with Lindsay Lohan and do lines of coke off of John Belushi's ghost? Would he have vacuous sex in the hotel elevator with Benicio Del Toro, just like Scarlett Johansson once did during an Oscars after-party? Or would he just be really, really bored like Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning were in the movie, Somewhere? The answer, it turned out, was none of the above.

Btchy Complaint Rag
Revisado: 08-05-19
I've stayed at this classic hotel and had no problems, sat in the courtyard, but I was respectful. The author wonders why he was treated poorly and not seated in the Courtyard. I would never have expected unknown hotel staff to get me drugs or send up a prostitute in the form of a masseuse. The author's crass behavior to the staff is a bit embarrassing to listen to, but if you want to hear an account from the hotel guest from Hell, this is your story. This is a lame attempt to lambast a classic hotel that prides itself on discretion. The author is exactly the kind of creep he calls all the other guests. If this is meant as a joke on the hotel - which saw right through him, then the joke is on him. The book should be called "Diary of an Entitled Traveling Nobody Wannabe. I admit the writing style is good and the flow is interesting, and the reader is fine. Just know that he gets no sex nor drugs and but I guess he had a salad. Granted, many rooms in the hotel are a bit run down. That is part of the strange charm. The place is history.

A BUNCH OF WHINING
Revisado: 04-03-18
This guy seems to adore capitalism, and yet he blames the baby boomers for becoming capitalists as they age. I mean our parents got more selfish as they got older...understandably...keeping their stuff for my kids. But the author calls all boomers sociopaths, despite Democrats winning the popular vote for President of US all but once in the last 25 years. AND GUESS WHAT!!! The baby boomers PAID for their own parents retirement without a GD whine! Exactly who are the sociopaths? Not the boomers, but the far right wing demagogues, like this author trying to convince children to dump their parents in the mud with no retirement. Raise the ceiling on ss deductions. And btw, the rich are not financing the poor. Bezos pays zero income tax, because they have bought ways around it. Workers have virtually no deductions and the middle class pays a higher percentage of their entire wealth...AND the Income tax was never meant to tax any but the rich people and corps. Check the tax rates before WWII . But if you need some scapegoating propaganda this is your book.

Historia
Jean-Paul Marat (1743-1793) gave the French Revolution a voice. One of the most memorable and notorious revolutionaries, Marat became one of the Revolution's best-known figures through his speeches, writings, and scathing attacks on everyone he perceived as, "[E]nemies of the revolution". No revolutionary was more passionate, determined, and willing to die for the cause.

Great information about Marat and the revolution.
Revisado: 09-05-17
What made the experience of listening to French Legends: The Life and Legacy of Jean-Paul Marat the most enjoyable?
It was informative to see how the power of the press controlled the Paris mob.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Always St. Jus, but they are all interesting.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
OMG. Every French word and name was butchered beyond recognition. It reminded me of following the audio GPS to Mardi Gras and being told to head for Vux Carry. It meant Vieux Carre... As for this book, had I not KNOWN all the people involved I would have had NO IDEA who this guy was talking about. Camille DesMoulins last name which is pronounced DAY MOO LANZ, was prounounced DEZ Mullins. This is a book about French people. Take maximum an hour and research the pronunciations of these names. Audible RE RECORD THIS!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It's a bit too much information for one sitting.. 3 or 4
Any additional comments?
Buy the paper book unless you already know this stuff, until Audible makes a BETTER RECORDING. This was HORRIBLE!
