It went viral. After a million online views in 17 different languages, people all over the world are still debating the answer.

A very different approach to making people equal
Revisado: 07-24-23
I’ve heard during my entire life that life is not fair. I also hear how often people complain about freeloaders and the lazy sector of our society. I look at how many people are actually on unemployment insurance right now and it is proof that people are not lazy. I also look around and see that keeping up with the Joneses is alive and well. The book is great fodder for thinking, discussing, planning, and changing our human to human path. If there was ever an argument to prove there is a God, humanity would be the best example; not because God created man, but that humans are too stupid to care for each other without assistance.

I don’t get it
Revisado: 11-17-22
I might be reading this book too far from the writing date, but I don’t understand. There are too many implied ideas here. I think the abusive relationship is yucky. I think having sex with an intruder is beyond crazy. I don’t get it.

Speechless
Revisado: 11-04-22
The story is well worth your time. There are many triggers for sexual abuse, verbal abuse, physical abuse, undernourishment, and abandonment. While listening, I had to stop and think about my past. Without giving away any spoilers, I will say this story ends on a high note.

Astonishing!
Revisado: 11-03-22
There was only one way to convey this story: it had to be in his own words, in his voice. I am ashamed to say that I voted for Trump in 2016. I could not vote for him in 2020. I watched both impeachment trials to see what would be said. I watched the coronavirus pandemic unfold. I watched January 6 as it happened. I have watched every Jan 6 Committee hearing. I love our country; DJT can never inhabit the White House again. I have never known anxiety the way I have since 2016. We are one nation under a blanket of fear.

Ehh. Mediocre at best.
Revisado: 09-13-22
There are a few stories in this collection that are pretty good (4 stars). There are a bunch of middle road stories (3 stars). A few “where is the ending” (2 stars). There are a couple “what was the point” (1 star).
Overall, I am happy to mark this finished. I will not listen a second time.

Historia
Defense lawyer Andy Carpenter is reluctant to take on more cases. He’d rather spend his time working for his dog rescue organization. However, when a truck carrying more than 70 dogs from the South to the Northeast turns up with a murdered driver, Andy can’t help but get involved. Andy is eager to help the dogs, but it’s the man accused of murder who he has a problem defending. The accused happens to be his wife Laurie’s ex-fiance. Even though he acknowledges having argued with the victim, he swears that he is not a killer, and Andy has to admit he believes he's telling the truth.

I’m into this book one hour and I can not find a redeeming value in it at all. I don’t understand the fishing terminology/vocabulary so much of this is beyond me. The final straw was the bullying military drill sergeant saying milk and sugar in coffee looks like cum and the drinker must want to go back to mama’s titty, then I am finished with the book. Disgusting.

Pretty good. Setting is the 1980s.
Revisado: 11-24-21
I kept thinking “just use your cell phone”! Good story, There are points of language, and most of the sex scenes were far from graphic, the descriptions of the dead are very clear. If a murder mystery is not your thing, skip this. If you like a good murder mystery from a cop’s point of view, this is good. If you can’t get into cop stories where the claims of chivalry are empty words and the actions are of a womanizer, then you will love this book. Joe feels real.

Depressing
Revisado: 11-22-21
The drugs have gotten to me. I’m 3.5 hours into this book, and I am giving up. I understand the abandonment entirely, but I don’t get the drugs. I can't relate to the self-destruction. I believe the performance is the reason I kept hoping this story would have a redeeming twist. I can not listen to this train wreck anymore.

Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

Everyone has a chip on their shoulder, people say the most hateful things, and this reader puts so much drama and huskiness in the voice that I feel like I am reading the gossip rags. COULD NOT FINISH!
