Historia
By the time Shania Twain was two, her parents had divorced, and by early childhood, her family of seven was often without food, at times living in a filthy one-bedroom apartment. But when her mother and stepfather were tragically killed in an automobile accident when she was 22, Shania knew that the only way to lift her family out of poverty was to use her God-given singing talent. At an age when most young people have only themselves to think about, Shania moved her entire family to a nearby resort where she began performing, supporting her younger brothers and sisters.

Overall Great Book
Revisado: 05-31-22
The only reason why I choose not to give this book a five star rating is because of the narrator. She lacks emotion, her voice is monotone and I found it distracting from the story being told. I feel that these books are best read by the author (celebrity). Hearing another voice - especially one that was not best suited for this role took away from the story. The narrator is hard to hear.

Historia
A woman has vanished while digging a dinosaur bone bed in the remote wilderness of Canada. Somehow, the only evidence has made its way to the inbox of Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta, over 2,000 miles away, in Boston. She has no idea why. But as events unfold with alarming speed, Scarpetta begins to suspect that the paleontologist's disappearance is connected to a series of crimes - much closer to home: a gruesome murder, inexplicable tortures, and trace evidence from the last living creatures of the dinosaur age.

Meh

The plot for this had so much potential. I know that you should not judge a book by its cover but I was excited by the title, but this book was hard to finish.

Historia
Determined to find out what happened to her former deputy chief, Jack Fielding, murdered six months earlier, Kay Scarpetta travels to the Georgia Prison for Women, where an inmate has information not only on Fielding, but also on a string of grisly killings. The murder of an Atlanta family years ago, a young woman on death row, and the inexplicable deaths of homeless people as far away as California seem unrelated. But Scarpetta discovers connections that compel her to conclude that what she thought ended with Fielding's death and an attempt on her own life is only the beginning....

Poor writing - worse narration
Revisado: 06-23-21
The narrator is incredibly hard to listen to. The voice she uses for Jaime makes my skin crawl. Please bring back the other narrator. The plot is thin at best. The once vivacious and intelligent Dr Scarpetta is now hyper paranoid and whiny. Benton has become a shell of a human and should have remained “dead”. The same story different locations.

Historia
Port Mortuary, the title of Patricia Cornwell's 18th Scarpetta novel, is literally a port for the dead. In this fast-paced story, a treacherous path from Scarpetta's past merges with the high-tech highway she now finds herself on. We travel back to the beginning of her professional career, when she accepted a scholarship from the air force to pay off her medical school debt. Now, more than 20 years and many career successes later, her secret military ties have drawn her to Dover Air Force Base, where she has been immersed in a training fellowship.

Bring back the original narrator
Revisado: 06-17-21
I feel bad saying this about someone but this narration was at times painful. It was completely distracting - there were times I found myself not paying attention to what was going on in the story but how horrible the narrator was. Story had so much potential but fell flat of her precious works.
Eighteen books in and now there is a military background?? That was the most irritating plot spin.
The recording kept freezing as well.

"My name is Flora Jessop. I've been called apostate, vigilante, and crazy bitch, and maybe I am. But some people call me a hero, and I'd like to think they're right too. If I am a hero, maybe it's because every time I can play a part in saving a child or a woman from a life of servitude and degradation, I'm saving a little piece of me, too. was one of twenty-eight children born to my dad and his three wives."

Story itself was great - narration was horrible
Revisado: 01-23-19
Great overall story, the narration was horrific. The narrator uses different voices that take away from what is happening in the story. She truly ruins part of the book thru her narration.Moments that are supposed to be tense and emotional have a childish sing song voice.
