Historia
Until now, we've been taught that forgiveness is good for us and that good people forgive. Dr. Janis Abrahms Spring proposes a radical, life-affirming alternative that lets us overcome the corrosive effects of hate and get on with our lives—without forgiving. She also offers a powerful and unconventional model for earning genuine forgiveness—one that asks as much of the offender as it does of the hurt party.

Exactly what I needed to hear.
Revisado: 06-02-24
Dr. Springer's views on forgiveness and mutual culpability were exactly what I needed to hear in order to start the healing process. I was desperately searching for a solution. I've read dozens of relationship books, listened to POD casts from the relationship gurus, and engages in ALANON, personal, and couples counseling. But nothing addressed the deep wounds of betrayal the way I needed until now. I feel like I have a road map to forgiveness and possible reconciliation. Facing the shame of being betrayed and wanting to stay was overwhelming my ability to start a path of forgiveness. I can see the situation better now from his side and my side. I am still hurt and broken, but after listening to this book, which I will listen to again and have shared with my spouse, I see the path and the light. Thank you.

Historia
How we fight predicts the future of our relationships. Most of us blunder into conflict without knowing what we are really fighting about and then quickly become overwhelmed by physiological responses we can’t control and emotions we don’t anticipate. The truth is the happiest and most successful couples fight—all the time. Conflict is human, and necessary.

Every couple should read this!
Revisado: 05-27-24
I have read quite a few of the Gottman's books. This one hit home as a practical and applicable guide for all couples, at every stage in a relationship. I can't imagine the hours, days, and months we could reclaim by knowing how to work through conflict instead of wallowing in our self-pity or self-righteousness. I am excited to take this book into practice.

Historia
Like Miller's previous books, this one follows the life, learning, and influence of Debbie Bruster. Here she finds herself mentoring Blake Brown, the son of her former mentor. Rather than answer Blake's questions about leadership directly, Debbie introduces him to other leaders, each of whom shares a unique perspective on what really makes a leader successful. As Blake puts the pieces together, he discovers his problem is not one of skills but of character - that leadership is more about the heart of the leader than the head or hands.

Leadership character journey to discovery.
Revisado: 01-09-23
There are leaders and there are good leaders and there are great leaders. What separates them is character. Can character be developed? How can we find mentors and coaches that display character? Is a corporate title required of your mentor? I enjoyed the narrative flow of this book as it guided me through a self exploration of my leadership character along with the protagonist. It is a simple and easy read with memorizing techniques that will benefit young and seasoned leaders alike.

Must have in your leadership library
Revisado: 01-07-23
In my everyday quest to be a better leader and follower, I try many books. This book was easy to listen to, easy to see myself and others in a leadership light, and gives just the right amount of guidance and encouragement to help me move forward on being that better leader. I am excited to implement some strategies for myself and to mentor my direct reports. I will be reading it, or listening to it, again.

Historia
The Master Coach is based on the simple but profound 3Cs Coaching Model. This proven approach asserts that to master the art of coaching one must have an exemplary character that invites the trust of others, be able to form rapid connections with others at a deeply personal level, and have the ability to initiate and guide intense, attitude-changing conversations. At every step, Thompson reminds listeners that coaching is not merely about what the coach says or does; it's about who he or she is.

Coaching is harder than mentoring!
Revisado: 01-05-23
i picked this title thinking I could improve my mentoring skills, but I learned there are distinct differences between teaching, mentoring, and coaching. Focusing truly on the development of another through guided coaching takes true self-effacing discipline to set aside your personal and professional narrative while asking the tough questions that only the talent can answer. Eye opening.

7 habits we all need
Revisado: 12-27-22
I enjoyed this version with the additional commentary from the author's son. The 7 habits are timeless, and hearing how the habits translate generationally and beyond enhances the reader's understanding. Leading a principle based life in every role I play makes decision-making easier. By sticking to my core principles and aligning my values, I am a better leader, a better family member, and a person who feels centered and content most of the time. The 7 habits are a practice, and I am not the perfect practitioner ! Every day is an opportunity.

Russ Harris offers a surprising solution to low self-confidence, shyness, and insecurity: Rather than trying to "get over" our fears, he says, the secret is to form a new and wiser relationship with them. Paradoxically, it's only when we stop struggling against our fearfulness that we begin to find lasting freedom from it.
