Historia
Christopher Snow is the best-known resident of 12,000-strong Moonlight Bay, California. This is because 28-year-old Chris has xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), a light-sensitivity so severe that he cannot leave his house in daylight, cannot enter a normally-lit room, cannot sit at a computer.

Best Koontz Characters/Plot
Revisado: 03-27-13
I have read almost all of Koontz. I used to think he was a pop S.K. clone, now I go for him first. Dean likes dogs and is an idealist at heart. This has the best developed and fantastic characters , story, and narration that fit like a glove. If I loose my place on this while listening from one drive to the next, there is no problem finding exactly where I was. Years later I remember it vividly, hearing it just as read by Szarabaijka. Also being a sci fi fan, this plot which follows into the next book in the series... with a third on the way..., is fantastic. The narrator, Szarabajka, was born to this SERIES. Starting out with Christopher, who roams the town at night due to an adventurous spirit, and a medical condition which is debilitating with UV exposure, we see a different view than most through his eyes. Not of a dangerous place, or through a foreign perspective. Chris is someone you can easily put yourself in his shoes, or I can. A good person who approaches the world with more intrest and enjoyment. Beloved by his friends who are generally all night owls in some way. Mom is just deceased, a scientist at a nearby military base, like a town to itself which seems to be fading from lack of funding/ etc. This is a well developed long novel that takes twists and turns, all fantastic, that keep you totally engrossed. I am ready to take a second go, and will probably get it now. Dean Koontz just seems to knock the ball out of the field on this one, and the sequel. I hope he is putting as much into the final? book (3rd) coming out hopefully soon, but doesn't feel he has to end it on number 3. I would like very much to live in Moonlight Bay, and will hopefully never grow tired of it. This series is the best story, by one of the best "horror" writers, as many might classify Koontz. I see him as a more inspirational writer of his varied genre. For those who do not see a well defined plot, I see a flowing story.
I would not opt for another narrator if I could.

My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

Intresting twist on plot. another 5*
Revisado: 08-28-12
This starts out in the traditional slow style of these thrillers, and lives up to Preston and Child's best stories. I just reordered Still life With Crows when I discovered that what I read 9 years ago ( my first Pendergast book) was abridged! I am glad I did not notice it at the time,. as it has lead me to read all they have written in fiction. So glad I bought the unabridged version of Cabinet or Curiosities- maybe audibe will get finally get it. It was worth the extra money I spent for the old taped version. I do not know If I could bear to put up with all the CD's you would have to get now. Thank goodness for technology!! I bought the first or second series audible player years ago, just months after they opened.
I an mot going to waste your time reviewing any more of Preston and Child's works, unless one is bad, which do not foresee. If you enjoy any of them as much as I do, they are all great.
Preston is not a just a fantastic author, he has been involved in his own thrilling life stories, some which I believe are reflected in this thriller series. He wrote a non-fiction book with a journalist, Mario Spezi, about the 'Monster of Florence", a serial killer who they had evidently investigated extensively for 5 or more years.
Preston and Spezi were arrested after the powerful Italian finatic detective or judge or whatever searched Spezi's and discovered that they did not share his certainty that a group of satanists were the culprits and the latest murder victim was just used by the powerful cult. I could go on, but it is bizarre and very interesting.

Another hit by these two. I have enjoyed every one. I grew up reading Dune, and was influenced by Herberts ideas. I was awed by Herbert, and these books are a fantastic listen. I have often searched under Scott Brick to help pick books. He is a fantastic narrator. The Dune Purists may have been popular on 1 or 2 of the infinite timelines.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.
