Historia
From the best-selling author of Lottery comes a new novel about greed, survival, and what's really important in life. At the bottom of the heap, there's nowhere to go but up. Waitress Tammy Tyree knows this intimately. Her life is a continual struggle of managing an eccentric uncle, looking after a younger brother who's not quite right, and doing everything she can to keep her family together in the small town of Spring, Washington.

simple story of simple folk in a small town
Revisado: 08-11-22
as long as you go in without expectations of a pullitzer, the story is great, and maybe suspend some disbelief in the gullibleness of peope. it has just enough surprises and emotion that it created a great story. I'm 100% going to read The Lottery after this as this seems to be her more popular novel.
The narrator was perfect for this role. Her take on the main character could not have been more spot on. she changed just enough about each character, while still keeping them all "simple", that i really felt like they were all small town folk from tv(sorry, not trying to offend any of you small town folk)
I was given this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review. I liked it enough to purchase another book by the same author/narrator combo

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

A knock on Chris Landrum's retirement cottage door proves that he doesn't have to leave home to find trouble. His friend, Mel Evans, a marsh tour-boat captain, arrives to tell Chris that there might be a little problem. Chris is shocked to hear that the little problem is that his friend is accused of murdering a college student. Before he has enough time for that to sink in, Chris learns that another friend from Larry's shady past is threatened to be exposed by a con artist and former partner-in-crime.

Typical murder mystery but interesting characters
Revisado: 06-15-19
This is a typical, small town murder series. If you like the genre, you'll probably like the series but know that there's nothing new or inventive about this series compared to others. The protagonist isn't some over the top genius or anything so that was a plus. The locale is amazing and I do wish the author would spend more time describing the surroundings although I guess that isn't of utmost importance.
Narrator has a great voice and I think he would be awesome in a story with less characters. For this story however, in which there are many characters who play a pivotal role, the distinction from one character to another wasn't quite what I would hope for which made it confusing at times.

the narration and simple sound effects were awesome. the story was a typical YA mystery that hooks you in. you'll definitely want to finish it. I hope audible continues to make originals like this instead of their usual, "podcast like" audiobooks. well worth a listen.

Completely different direction than the first
Revisado: 11-07-18
I really enjoyed the first book and couldn't wait for this one. This book started the same as the first but took a surprising turn. The book was well written and narrated but I wish it would have stuck closer to the outline of the first boo - People surviving a planet full of dinosaurs while dealing with normal, everyday problems. That being said, I can't wait to see where the third book takes the story.

Creative, interesting but predictable story
Revisado: 03-01-18
Very creative story. I can't wait to listen/read the next one. That being said, the story is very predictable(with a twist).
The narrator does an adequate job - doesn't add anything to the excitement but certainly doesn't take anything away. I will gladly listen to him when they get around to recording the second book.

Decent post-apocalyptic story. Good Narrator
Revisado: 11-27-17
If post-apocalyptic stories are your favorite, you'll enjoy this one. The story doesn't do anything too original(although maybe surprising?) but it was good for what it was. The narrator did a great job of adding just enough emotion when it was needed without taking you outside of the characters. It's a short read and probably worth it but if you're looking for anything new, this probably isn't the best bet.

Amazing narrator, Good buildup. Lackluster Story
Revisado: 09-21-17
Would you listen to Beyond the Inferno again? Why?
No. At the beginning, you keep listening because you want to know what's going to happen next. And then almost nothing happens. And then almost nothing happens again. You think the ending will save the mediocrity of the middle but it doesn't.
Any additional comments?
The narrator did an amazing job. If you've listened to any of the 5th wave, which also has a very strong female lead, this will remind you of that and I was a huge fan of that series and audiobook series in particular. That book had great narration which led to me enjoying the book even more. This book had a great narrator but that couldn't save the story. I would definitely listen to this narrator again and I would love to see what she can do with a different story.

Good characters in a familiar setting.
Revisado: 09-18-17
What did you love best about Zed's World?
The author chose great characters to make the centerpiece of this zombie world. They have flaws, are interesting etc. I think the origination of the apocalypse was original. I think the author did just enough in his writing to create something new and original in the world of zombie books.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I think the author did a great job of creating a small group of distinct characters that you want to continue to follow throughout the ordeal.
What does S.W. Salzman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Not my favorite narrator but overall did a decent job.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I have already purchased the next book in the series(sadly not in Audiobook format)
