I could not get over the stuffy accents...this is a sexy book, not a PBS Masterpiece Classic.

I had seen this book recommended time and time again, so I decided to get an Audible account in order to play this book while I'm in the car, cooking dinner, etc. I am glad that the actual book is offered on KU because I CAN NOT stand the recording. It is NOT GOOD, and it is very possibly ruining the actual story.
I rated the story as a 3 because I am DNFing until I can get the performance voices out of my head.
(Before anyone comes for me, I'd like to add that I am very familiar with consuming media in a wide range of accents and even a couple of languages. I do not have a problem with accents. It was 100% the head voice for the FMC and chest voice for the MMC that drove me up the dang wall. NO THANK YOU!)

Slow start, weak FMC, but when the story got moving, I was hooked!

Gild started out pretty slowly. Some people are going to make the argument that all world building is slow...I did not find Auren or Midas very likable in the first act.
Once the story got going, it was great, and the end of the book seemed to come too soon. I'm excited to dive straight into Glint!
