Historia
While humans lost their knowledge of magic and monsters, the Ironwoods have been fighting against evil for centuries. While gods, fae, and magicians turned into tall tales and ghost stories, the Ironwoods became the stuff of legends themselves. Now, with Morrigan’s Generals free again in the world, the Ironwoods are going to need all their training—and their new fae brothers—to stop them. This box set collects all four stories of the Ironwood women as they get into plenty of trouble, slay their enemies, and find true love.

No character development
Revisado: 12-27-24
I didn't really come to care about the characters one way or another, other than death=sad in general, but beyond that.... meh. Lasted 19 chapters and gave up. Figured if I didn't have a connection to the characters at that point, I never would. World building was non-existent.

Historia
My name is Mercy Thompson Hauptman, and my mate, Adam, is the werewolf who leads the Columbia Basin Pack, the pack charged with keeping the people who live and work in the Tri-Cities of Washington State safe. It’s a hard job, and it doesn’t leave much room for side quests. Which is why when I needed to travel to Montana to help my brother, I intended to go by myself.

Narrator did her best. Not PB's best work.
Revisado: 06-25-24
Terribly disjointed storyline, and difficult to follow. The "interlude" snipits felt all over the place, did nothing to really advance the storyline, and seemed like things that the editor wanted out, and this was the compromise. This was my least favorite of all PB's books. It didn't advance the story of Wulf, which was interesting in the previous book but was left with more story to be told, nor of other characters. I found I really didn't care if they saved the world by the end, lol. The book went in too many directions, some interesting, but none of them fleshed out.
The virtue signalling in one of the "interludes" was irrelevant, and like most established book series & TV series where virtue signalling is introduced via a trans identifying character (in this case, one of the Adam's security personnel), it felt forced, unnecessary and preachy. First of all, the character wouldn't have been addressed as "girl" in the meeting in any realistic scenario, but this was added to the book so we readers could be lectured on 3rd person pronouns (compelled of others, of course). Thankfully, short lived section & that character, which was indeed irrelevant, doesn't appear again.

Cat shifter Bree Dwyer doesn't fear much. Ironically, what she fears most is the person who was put on the Earth just for her. Your true mate wasn't supposed to be cruel and twisted; wasn't supposed to be someone who'd never love or want to claim you. The rumors that her true mate is dead bring her only relief. Bree's intent on moving forward with her life and building a future with someone else. Sadly, the male she wants most is one she can never have - a hot-as-sin wolverine shifter who happens to be her boss...and the cousin of her predestined mate.

Excellent world building
Revisado: 03-01-23
Those lamenting about veganism in the book (they aren't even vegans - vegans don't eat fowl, the vampires do, nor do they eschew honey; they aren't even vegetarians so those who have a problem with vegans....relax) and Prius owning are totally missing the point, which is that the guardian's heightened senses makes their sense of taste and smell 1000x greater, so additives taste bad, and vehicle exhaust smells awful. Also, most are at least hundreds of years old and got into a pattern of eating in a way that reduced their need for blood by doing less damage, and have become set in their ways. Since they now rely on donated blood, they try to do as little to damage their bodies as they can, so clean living as much as possible. It's not meant to be preachy - it's meant to build a world that make sense for creatures with extremely heightened senses.
Excellent world building, memorable and likable characters, and the story lines only get better and better from here. Fantastic narrator.

How is this rated so high! Awful!!
Revisado: 01-05-22
Terrible 1st book. Got to chapter 7 and gave up. No character development, no world building. When you've read excellent paranormal series writers like Dianne Duvall, Patricia Briggs, JR Ward and others of their writing talent, this is just awful. I have nothing good to say at all. Ist 7 chapters - why does a man want a woman because she was "kind to him" - she grabbed the napsack of stuff she needs for something or other (not really clear) and left him to die - no 911 call, even anonymously. Real kind. Oh yes, she lied in his blood for a while and we are supposed to guess it infected her. Sort of. She HAS to get custody of her sister's 4 kids at age 20 with no job, despite the fact they are staying with a good family that she says are "bad people". No idea why she considers them "bad" when the kids seem happy enough. They are even willing to take HER in. She has a 50k loan from a loan shark. We have NO idea why. And she fights werewolves in an arena for some reason, and yet doesn't know what they are. No idea why she is even asked to fight.
Disjointed, no world building, whiny main character the reader couldn't care less about and a man who is abandoned by her in a pool of blood who has decided he must have her. Weird. Not recommended.
If the books get better I don't know. Couldn't get beyond book 1.

Historia
Unable to shift for three months, Mateo Cruz knows all too well. His wolf has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he's cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane. Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rule of her coven: no werewolves. They're known for being volatile. So, when a distempered, dangerous werewolf strolls into the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she's ready to bounce him through the door. But she sees the desperation in his eyes....

Just the usual erotica pretending to be a story
Revisado: 07-10-21
Became about sex by the 2nd chapter, and continued on through the 3rd where I stopped. Very little world building, next to no character development. Not worth a credit imo.

Recently jobless and homeless, now I’ve been kidnapped by aliens. I thought my day couldn’t get any worse, until the disgusting Orkun warlords who abducted me tell me I’m meant to be a “bride” for their commander. No! No freaking way. But before I can figure out a way off this spaceship, I find myself caught in the middle of an uprising by their other captives: a breathtakingly masculine gladiator race called Kalixians.

Awful
Revisado: 05-10-21
By chapter 9, no real story, just formulaic, very sexist erotica. Would have skipped over the idiotic parts but then there'd be very little story left. Erotica, set in space. Uninteresting and severely lacking. The description sounded hopeful.... the book did not live up to it. She's naked for the 1st nine chapters. I don't know beyond that. Goes into a room that had sheets, etc.... and chooses to stay naked in front of a fully dressed alien man despite hoping he won't take advantage of her. Eye-roll city. A loss from chapter 2 onward.

The decision has been made. Jessie has taken the magic and all the weird that goes with it. Including wings. There's only one problem - she can't figure out how to access them. Through a series of terrible decisions, Jessie realizes she must ask for help. Gargoyle help. But she could've never predicted who answers her call - he's an excellent flier, incredibly patient, and a good trainer. He's also incredibly handsome. And interested.

Added very little to the storyline overall
Revisado: 05-07-21
To me, this was the book I liked the least of the 3 books I've listened to so far in the series, by a long measure. I found it added very little substance to the direction of the series, and with all the mention of the male genitalia, and an excruciatingly uncomfortable and unnecessary male masterbation scene, it was like an extended, unwanted and unrequested verbal dick pic, just one that assaults the ears rather than the eyes. One could do without 75% of book 2 and have been just fine. A novella would have been better to have advanced the series forward.

Historia
Charlotte McBee knows she’s in for a challenge when she accepts a job as midwife for a dragon and a phoenix shifter. Being a fairy herself, it isn’t the supernatural world that scares her. It’s the thought of delivering a giant metal dragon’s egg, which has her gritting her teeth in pain for poor Jillian, the anxious mother-to-be. While preparing for the big event, a handsome town resident catches her eye. Leonard is kind, charming, and a little bit mysterious. He’s also suffering from a highly unusual condition brought on by an ancient fairy curse.
