Great Christian novel
Revisado: 09-17-10
This is a great novel for Christian listeners who like God-centred fiction with a well thought-out storyline and true to life characters. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this novel and having been close to someone who went through a similar situation, I thought Karen Kingsbury captured the emotions in a very realistic way. It was beautifully narrated and I was sad to finish the story.
Non-Christians would probably find the emphasis on a relationship with God rather heavy going and even confusing at times but I enjoyed every minute of it.

Love Manning's honesty
Revisado: 08-20-10
My title says it all really. I love the way Brennan is so honest and lays his life out for his readers to relate to. This is a little treasure and I'll be listening to it again when I need to be encouraged about God's love for me. Thanks Brennan!

Historia
Follow one man’s journey of learning to hear the voice of God. By putting words to the things God has shown him through some amazing experiences, John Eldredge helps listeners shed light on the miraculous truths that God is showing them right now. Our deepest need is to live in conversation with God. To hear his voice. To follow him intimately. This is the single most life-changing habit that a human being can adopt, because it brings us back to the source of life. Yet most Christians have never been taught how to have a conversation with the Creator.

Over the top!
Revisado: 08-20-10
I have read John Eldridge's books before and enjoyed them but felt in this one that he went over the top in some ways. I listened to it to the end but only persevered because I didn't want to think I'd wasted my credit. Although I am charasmatic by doctrine, I had reservations about some of his spiritual observations and would be wary of reading any further books by him. Shame really as I loved 'Epic'.

Easy to Listen to and yet thought provoking.
Revisado: 08-20-10
I listened to this book whilst on holiday and found it a good, easy to 'read' story. If you want something that keeps moving, doesn't lose you with heavy detail and yet deals with realistic emotions of people like you and me, then I think you'll enjoy listening to this book.

Not his best book
Revisado: 06-10-10
I enjoyed the first half of this book more than the second half. I found myself losing interest the more I listened to it. However, I like John Ortberg's writings and his 'easy to listen to' manner is always attractive.

A great read!!
Revisado: 06-10-10
As a Christian, the subject of grace intrigues me. Although I do not embrace the amish doctrines, I found this book encouraging and a fascinating explanation of how the Amish treat such a tragedy as the killing of these children.
It helped me in my own walk with God to understand the grace He offers His children.

Christians beware!
Revisado: 06-10-10
If you are a Christian, serious about pursuing your walk with God and not falling into error, this is a book that you will read with caution and discernment. I found it interesting to read what the 'emerging church' believes in fiction format and found myself agreeing with much of what the author is revealing. However, (and this is a big one) all error contains some truth and the overall message of this book is that Jesus is not the ONLY way to the Father. Read it carefully and compare it to scripture before you make your final decision about what it is teaching.

Another great Picoult read!
Revisado: 06-10-10
Again JP draws us into a fascinating plot of human life. She very cleverly opens up the minds of the characters involved - I especially found the thoughts of Jacob and Emma very informative and lifelike. One thing I wish JP would change is her regular use of bad language - which seems to increase as the book proceeds. A good book doesn't need to be peppered with 'f' words to add to it's attractiveness.

Challenging and thought provoking
Revisado: 08-13-09
Not a comfortable read!! Not for those who are happy with a comfortable westernised style of Christianity but it resonated with me and I wasn't surprised by the contents as I listen to Rob Bell sermons and know his heart for the under-privileged.
I liked the informality of him and Don Golden taking it in turns to read this book - it was like sitting with them having a conversation in my living room.
I would recommend it to those searching for a deeper walk with God.

Healing Back Pain
Revisado: 08-13-09
A very thought provoking book which made me ponder the nature of my back pain. I have to admit that since taking the advice of Dr. Sarno I have had considerably less back pain than before. It's not a hard process, rather a change of attitude.
I'm glad I read this book.
