Historia
It’s the summer of 1907, and the sun is scorching down on Mary Pearl in the Arizona Territory. Mary Pearl and her sister Esther take their minds off the heat by sneaking banned Jane Austen novels from Aunt Sarah Elliot’s lively bookshelf. Whispered read-alouds preoccupy their nights, and reveries of getting hitched to their own Mr. Darcy à la Pride and Prejudice swirl through their daydreams. In walks old-fashioned old-money suitor Aubrey Hanna, here to whisk 17-year-old Mary Pearl off her feet with a forbidden kiss and hasty engagement.

Awesome story- excellent author
Revisado: 11-21-20
I really enjoy Nancy Turner’s style. She can paint a picture with details of what’s happening and fill it with the emotions of each character.
This is a great book alone but I have listened to all her other books first. Defiantly a great story.

Lot of drama & whinning
Revisado: 05-10-18
I could not go past chapter 3- The main character was in so much agony over her personal situation. I listened to the sample and did not detect the story to be this way. It was making me so uncomfortable I had to stop the book. JH

Historia
One of the most talented seamstresses of her time, Ilsa Thorsen could sell her creations anywhere in the world, but she ends up on her sister’s ranch in the western town of Pendleton, Oregon. Disgusted with the dust, smells, and nearly every aspect of rural life, Ilsa wonders how she'll survive, particularly with the arrogant Tony Campanelli constantly underfoot. Enterprising and hardworking, Tony Campanelli embraces life in the small community of Pendleton with his sister and their friends, especially since Ilsa Thorsen moves to town.

Very shallow, became boring and stale
Revisado: 04-16-18
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The beginning had potential, but the author went to so much detail about every movement of the characters. It became very boring. Lost in details that were not important.
Everything was becoming to predictable.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Lynn Austin's books have me looking for other authors that can keep an interesting, more complex theme with some realism to the story.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Michael Rahhal?
Narrator was good
Any additional comments?
I am looking for a story that is realistic with characters that are believable. The author had way too much "magic" in the story...

Disappointed
Revisado: 09-22-17
Would you try another book from Marie Bostwick and/or Renée Raudman and Pam Ward ?
This was my second book after " A Single Thread" - which I enjoyed. But this just retells the same story and seemed to be a repeat of previous. So I would not choose another from her series.
What was most disappointing about Marie Bostwick’s story?
It was repeating too much. If I hadn't heard the previous book it would be ok. She added a new character- that was a very annoying single mother type. It was dragging out on a weak story.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Renée Raudman and Pam Ward ?
Narrators were fine.
