3.5 Stars-Not bad
Revisado: 08-04-20
I thought this book was good, overall. It is definitely not my typical genre. I also didn’t find it as suspenseful as perhaps intended, as most of the story line was pretty predictable. I’ll admit, I prefer happy endings and did see originally the story had a different ending. I’m not sure which ending I would have preferred, as this one was more realistic-but that one made me happier. I did appreciate the short epilogue and the bit of closure it provided.

This book is predictable. At no point was I surprised. I kept waiting to be, but it never happened.

Conflicted
Revisado: 04-05-19
Without giving too much away. I’m conflicted. It’s a good series. Well written with a lot of mythology infused. I liked the first two books better than the final three. The third and fourth, specifically seemed to drag a bit and had me wanting to skip forward. One thing I think the author could have done better was character development. I didn’t find myself overly attached to any one character. Honestly, by the end-I found our heroine (Nicole) a bit annoying. Danielle continued to redeem herself throughout and had me rooting for her. The audible narration was awesome though!

Historia
Waverly Camdenmar spends her nights running until she can't even think. Then the sun comes up, life goes on, and Waverly goes back to her perfectly hateful best friend, her perfectly dull classes, and the tiny, nagging suspicion that there's more to life than student council and GPAs. Marshall Holt is a loser. He drinks on school nights and gets stoned in the park. He is at risk of not graduating; he does not care; he is no one. He is not even close to being in Waverly's world.

Kind of dragged on
Revisado: 02-21-19
So this story was promising and the author has ability. There wasn’t anything glaringly wrong with the story so much as the characters were DULL. Marshall the male lead was so self sabotaging, and “my life sucks” when he had first world problems, at best. Geez-he’s die in the real world. Waverly basically complained about being seen as a robot and welcomes being seen as a robot depending on the moment. She never really redeemed herself and made herself anything other than a robot either. I mean maybe the last three pages of the book-but the other 98% made me want to choke her. I also feel like considering the length of the book that their relationship could have been fleshed out better, it was instalove/lust for him and she was either hot or cold. Either way the love didn’t come across organic or sincere.

Maybe the book is good? Narration is AWFUL
Revisado: 07-29-17
This narrators voice was the most grating thing I've ever heard. Super monotonous and shaky. I couldn't take it. I don't even know what this book is about-I couldn't turn my focus away from the TERRIBLE narration.

Slow moving and frustrating
Revisado: 07-29-17
I loved the first book, this book seemed stuck in neutral most of the time. Most of the story either involved the group being outsmarted by Maven or Mare feeling sorry for herself. I found her to not be the heroin from book one, instead we were left with a sullen and unlikable girl. I understand that in some ways, this was intentional-but there were far too few redeeming moments.
There is no doubt this author is good with words, but sometimes it gets repetitive and boring. The plot is good-but it just draws out and doesn't get the push it should, especially for being such a lengthy book. I read reviews for book 3 and it looks like that one is even worse. For now I'm going to just skip that one altogether (many reviews say it's a pointless filler book) and await book 4 to see if it redeems itself. I just want book 1 back.

I liked the book
Revisado: 06-19-17
The narrators voice was a bit grating. It sounded like an older lady trying to sound young. I almost returned the book because of it. Otherwise her performance was average. The book itself was good-not mind blowing, but surely thought provoking. I liked the concept of the book and the characters. I enjoyed the complexity of the presented situations as well.

Beautifully narrated
Revisado: 05-01-17
Easy to follow story, nothing too complicated happens-but it's an easy read. I listened via audio book and spent all day and night listening. It flows well and the characters are likable. I also liked that the book can be a standalone story. Only reason it was a four vs five was that it was a bit boring.
