Historia
The cozy little town of Pine Deep buried the horrors of its past a long time ago. Thirty years have gone by since the darkness descended and the Black Harvest began, a time when a serial killer sheared a bloody swath through the quiet Pennsylvania village. The evil that once coursed through Pine Deep has been replaced by cheerful tourists getting ready to enjoy the country’s largest Halloween celebration in what is now called “The Spookiest Town in America.”

Pretty good story
Revisado: 08-23-22
Good characters and the author makes you care and hate them pretty well.
I actually go this confused with another PINE themed set of stories, so I completely forgot about it until about 3 years later when I saw an anthology of stories come out and it was nothing like the other books.

Overall, not bad. Barnes the bum and his never ending search for hooch aka Flip Flop and the narrator's voices made it worthwhile.
Much worse zombie books out there.

highly recommend this story and all three books, gave the entire series a complete second listen and still enjoyed it, not many zombie trilogies can be listened to more than once.

Aggressively mediocre
Revisado: 12-25-20
My original headline was going to be "TEDIOUS" until I saw that some other reviewer chose this. This is the best one word descriptor for this offering.
I wasn't a big fan of the story, the characters, the villain, the world building and all the other suspicious raving reviews really set this book up to let me down. Is Amazon paying their sounding board people to write these glowing reviews?
Skip it. It's not worth your time. I literally fell asleep when some Scottish hero showed up a couple times for some reason, I wonder if the narrator was just having fun at these points to keep himself awake, although it didn't work for me.

That’s for the guys with too much brawn and not enough brain. No, Steele works in consulting. After having his license revoked by the Guild of Masked Crimefighters, he decided he would scout talent instead. Politics aside, it's terrible
Revisado: 07-22-19
I don't even know if my 12 year old self would have enjoyed this. I didn't really get the right leaning political bias many reviewers cried about, and I don't normally like current politics injected into any of my audio books, but this story was juvenile and just plain silly.
I'm an hour in and I can't listen to this anymore. I have to assume that many of the reviews are positive due to the fact it was free.
I don't think I've ever felt more out of touch with Audible and it's current crop of editors and reviewers than in 2019.

Father of cyberpunk William Gibson’s original script for Alien III, written in 1987 as a sequel to Aliens, never made it to our screens, although it went on to achieve cult status among fans as the third instalment that might have been after being leaked online. This terrifying, cinematic multicast dramatisation - directed by the multi-award-winning Dirk Maggs - is the chance to experience William Gibson’s untold story and its terrifying, claustrophobic and dark encounters between humans and aliens, as a completely immersive audio experience.

Experts Shift Bader and Anta Chalthoum are called to investigate, but even they cannot fathom the breadth of what has been uncovered. The stakes quickly rise as the peril intensifies. Shift and Anta must set aside their budding feelings for each other as they face a catastrophe the likes of which the world has never known; the effects of which threaten to reach beyond the borders of our own world.

"A bite or scratch will turn the victims to one of the infected within 72 hours..." Those words rang in Evan Berry's head. Waking to discover he'd been scratched was a death sentence. Deciding that he would not force Carl or Betty to have to put him down after he turned, Evan said farewell to his group and slipped out in the middle of the night. Deciding that he would make one last run in the hopes that he could bring back enough supplies for his beloved Newfoundland, Chewie, Evan embarks on a quest that will show him just how fast and far society has fallen.

Yet Another "Evil white supremacist group" enemy
Revisado: 03-24-17
I listen to audio-books to escape reality, not to listen to Political Correct terms, "problematic" situations or pseudo-social-justice nonsense.
I enjoyed the first Dead: Alone audiobook, but I did not enjoy this story at all.
This is the THIRD zombie-centric book in a row that I have listened to or read that used the following formula: An "Evil white supremacist/neo-nazi group" used as the formulaic bad guys - full of sadistic tendencies, over the top torture/murder of black/ethnic people - which really does not add to the characters or move the story along in any meaningful way. Unsurprising, each one of these "stories" included an ancillary heroic black male lead who ribs and saves the main white character who these authors obviously use as avatars for their real lives/beliefs.
In this story the Ethnic gang that is fighting the evil white gang has a hispanic male who attended a convention and gave one of the famous white female characters a teddy bear and lets them pass without stealing their belongings as the normal tithe for passage. So in case you failed to realize "white people bad, ethnics good" the author beats it into your thick skull so you understand.
If you haven't read Mark Tufo's Zombie Fallout series, the story of Michael Talbot and BZ sets the standard for white/black relationships/friendships in a non-PC world.
Is there some secret mailing list for "White Guilt" promoting science fiction authors I need to know about so I can stop purchasing/listening to their propaganda masked as actual stories?
As someone who loves Newfoundland dogs and had high hopes for a promising story/series, I am not only disappointed, but mad that the same SJW virus that infected the Star Wars writing circles has now infected my Zombie universe.
I do not recommend this book or any future books by this author, TW Brown.
